The Buffs head up to Fort Collins to face off against the Rams this Wednesday evening.

Per the basic preview article out so far ( http://www.cubuffs.com/ViewArticle.dbml?DB_OEM_ID=600&ATCLID=210546391 )-

"
The Buffs own a 35-11 all-time edge over the Rams, including last season’s 87-81 double-overtime victory in Boulder in the Omni Classic finals. The series has been much closer in Fort Collins, however, with the Buffs holding a narrow 12-9 edge.

The Buffs are coming off an 83-61 loss to Florida in last weekend’s Omni Classic finals. The Rams are 5-1, a record that includes a win over BYU, a one-point loss at Penn and a double-overtime win over Navy.

Buffs trail 33-31 at the half despite only shooting 11/29 in the 1st half.

****

Had a lead in the final 10 seconds. Allowed CSU to score. Then on the final play the Buffs came up empty (with Howell tweeting something about a CU player getting tackled with no foul call).

Bummer, but I wish I could say it's surprising. After the loss v Florida I figured this game would be challenging emotionally for the Buffs and of course the Rams always have more motivation in this contest.

It seems the foul problems/depth were one of the issues tonight as Swan played so few minutes in the first half. In only 17 minutes of action she scored 12 points and pulled down 9 rebounds. And Zoe Beard-Fails was not able to play it making Swan's absence more impactful. Unfortunately, I think this will happen again this season.

So it seemed the game was on Leonard's shoulders down the stretch and when she produced the Buffs couldn't defend against an inbound play in the waning seconds.

The fouls called on Swan in the first half were questionable IMO (two of them).

Kennedy played a great game, but it's a team sport and she can't do it alone. Need more scoring than just Leonard and Swan.

Buffs were out of time-outs so couldn't move the ball to half court like CSU did for their basket.

It was strange listening to the Rams play by play on the video stream. He had some very sarcastic things to say about our players. I don't think that is professional. He thought the fouls on CSU that were getting Leonard to the line in the first half were "nothing but air".
