With staff changes, what were Mac's conclusions on the season?

In looking at the staff changes...firing of Forman and hiring of DC...what do y'all think Mac's conclusions were about what needed correction?

To me he doesn't have a problem with Lindgren, he sees QB development lacking and so hires DC to free up time for BL to coach QBs. He also seems to think Bernardi isn't the problem...the problem is lack of progress in the weight room. I think it's both, but he's a little closer to the program than I am :)

Does he not see a problem with Neinas? Wasn't DC the ST coordinator at TT and was really good? Damn Mac...I don't get not making DC the new ST coordinator. Hopefully DC will help pick a replacement for TN.

And finally recruiting. Does Mac see the deficiencies there from the staff he brought in from SJSU? Look at what Jim L and Tumpkin have done in recruiting...making the others look like they are standing still. If DC can deliver as recruiting coord and recruiter, this team may make some noise.

Thoughts?

Changes aren't finished according to people with in's to the program.

Based on changes so far though I think the conclusions are easy.

1) Strength and conditioning was not achieving the desired results and Foreman was not willing to / could not change his methods to achieve those results.
2) The passing offense regressed. Mac brings in a passing game coordinator as co-OC and reassigns Lindgrens time so he can work more with the quarterbacks
3) Recruiting needed upgrading, so he brought in a talented young recruiter.

I hope it works.
Our O Line needs much improvement. With that improvement comes more time to throw with less injuries to our QB's, and our running game will
open more holes for Lindsay et al.

Glad to hear changes aren't done yet. I was hoping to get rid of Lindgren, but hopefully this will help. Neinas and Bernardi are still on my radar, but I'm guessing Bernardi stays (seems Mac thinks it's S&C and not coaching) Can't see Neinas staying though. I'm thinking maybe Mac's working with DC (as recruit coord and a good ST coach himself) to help pick a replacement for Neinas.

Seems like to me that, much like the DC change last year, that Mac may be "helping" Bernardi and Neinas find other jobs while at the same time filtering through possible candidates. If he keeps Neinas, he has pretty much thrown the last shovel of dirt into this grave. Chiaverini as passing game coordinator will be a huge upgrade. Lingren was a HORRIBLE play caller in the red zone....and Sefo has regressed. Not sold on Noyer....he appears to be an less athletic Apsay....playing arguably against lesser talent. Will be an interesting few weeks.

Still looking at Jeffcoat myself. Would think he would be a great recruiter, especially in Texas. Kids know him about like they remember CU fielding winning teams? It's been too long.

premature thread is premature.
That's similar to what BC90's ex said.

It does seem odd to think MacIntyre is again going to great lengths to give his underperforming assistants soft landings, but it also speaks to the man he is. I'd lack such patience.

While I don't assume I know the inner workings of the staff and how that plays out relative to appearances, it's obvious that the Buffs are good enough to hang tough with some of the best teams in the country, but haven't delivered in the one way MM stressed this year: finish.

If contagious-enthusiasm hires like JL and DC double as coaching and recruiting upgrades, he needs to keep making those changes. Getting those two on board lets me think things are better than they appear. What happens next has the chance of confirming my need to mix a new batch of kook(<- karmic typo?) aid.

Go Buffs!

Soft landing theory took a big hit with Forman. But then, we don't know why that came out other than someone talked to the scoop, and that could have been anyone. Or maybe S&C was too important to wait. who knows.

Could be that S&C coaches aren't typically on multi year deals at other schools? Coaches are so he tries to help them out.

Only Leavitt and Lindgren are on multi year deals.

Lindgren isn't on a multi year deal but I am saying he tries to help out his coaches find softer landings because other schools offer multi year deals to all coaches. Maybe S&C coaches are not on multi year deals at other schools?

Aren't the s and c guys the only ones that really get much contact with the players in the off season? I would think that if that is the case, then Mac had to move quickly from him. Although that theory takes a hit since we don't have a new one in place (or at least officially announced).

According to Brian Howell's article in today's Denver Post, MM said that " Brian will still call the plays"… IMO the hiring of Chiv is partly a wake up call to Lindgren. Glad to have Darrin here though. Should help with this underperforming receiving corps.

Of course this discussion is too soon...isn't offseason talk filled with pure speculation? We will certainly know more as there are supposedly more changes a comin'.

premature thread is premature.

I agree with Mr. Sir, yes SIR!

Chiv's hire was only due to Walters leaving of his own free will. George made it clear that CU didn't want Walters to leave. So really the only change that has been effected by CU to date is firing the S&C guy. Supposedly we'll see 1-2 more changes, hopefully 3-4 more, that will be MacIntyre's legacy for this off season.
