2016 CFB News & Notes (National)

Either way, their 2nd highest rated commitment for 2016, Quartney Davis, just decommited. What is going on in College Station?

Sumlin was under pressure to give his OC the heave-ho too. Wonder if he does now knowing no coach wants to touch that situation unless they back up the offer with a huge buyout.

People may not realize it, but Sumlin's on the hot seat. aTm has invested a ton of booster money in facilities and they're paying him top dollar to deliver 7 wins a year. You can find an inexpensive coach who will win 7 games a year there.

Is Kyle Field gonna stay loyal to A&M or are they gonna lose their third multi million dollar investment named Kyle of the offseason?

His best year was his first was it not? Trajectory with his own players is not good.

Regarding Gillam, how many athletes have come back after, essentially, two years out with injuries and really contributed? I can't think of any. Especially in football. It's nice to hope though. I guess.

I'm sure plenty. There's not a lot of guys who have back to back injuries but they are separate deals. I really doubt you'd find it dips much with the second one.

Terry Allen comes to mind and Stinky, dude was a walking injury. I'm shocked that man can even walk. Imho, when u start getting hurt any game you play, it's time to shut it down. I wish him the best. It's kinda like a car. One thing will **** up, you fix it, then something else will fail and so on. After that, you are going car shopping. His overall health is all I'm concerned about, he's earned that from us whether he plays another down or not. It's his call and I hope it works out.

SIAP, Georgia QB Faton Bauta to transfer to CSU and be eligible immediately.
Bauta was rated one of the top 30 quarterback prospects in the country by ESPN and Scout.com as a high school senior and the No. 15 dual-threat QB by Rivals.com.

RS Freshman Coleman Key will transfer after the Bowl game on 12/29.

Would love to one up the sheep by seeing Kyle Allen transfer to CU.

He started one game in his 4 years at UGA and threw 4 picks in that game. Perfect fit for the sheep.

I doubt Bobo brought him there without at least thinking he'd be a good backup. I wouldn't judge a QB by their first game. Bobo knows QBs. Probably not all-world, but could be a decent upgrade for Stevens. We always trash those transfers to the sheep in the off-season....

Yeah, I'm going to go ahead and judge him. If he was any good he would've seen the field more in his 4 years at UGA. And the fact that they're bringing him in to be a backup to Stevens tells you all you need to know. Don't be fooled by the transfer from the almighty SEC.

Don't be fooled by the press. I'd guess he will be given a shot to be more than a backup.
Yeah, I can't imagine he would transfer to a place like CSU to be a backup. Guarantee Bobo is going to give him every opportunity to be the guy. Bobo's career rides on 2016

Faton Bauta transferred form NY to Dwyer High School in Palm Beach Gardens for his senior year (my neck of the woods). Dwyer typically has good teams and has produced a fair amount of professional athletes in the NFL and NBA.

At Dwyer, he put up respectable passing numbers, but was a much better runner than passer (not very accurate and a slow release). Often, that's all you need there. He only played QB his senior season in high school, and saw action in one game at UGA, so he's pretty inexperienced from a live action standpoint. Following his prep career, some of the recruiting scouts suggested that he would be better served to play LB or S in college.

I'm not sure he'll beat out Stevens (2nd team all MWC) but he could be dangerous if they used him more as a runner, let's say a BVP role. Bobo would have to materially alter his offense for that to happen, though. Definitely a good pickup for CSU, even if just from a depth perspective after they lost Coleman Key. One to play one has little downside risk.

What press? He has one start with 4 picks in 4 years. That's no media spin.
. Calm down.
The press is who said he is transferring to be the backup and you stated sane.

Bobo looked really frustrated with Stevens arm strength in the games I watched. He worked with this transger kid for 3 years. I just don't believe the job isn't open there, despite what the Foco press says.

I have no idea if he is any good or not. UGA has had some QB injury issues in recent years and he still didn't see the field much so he certainly isn't a world beater.

On the other hand I would also guarantee that UGA and the other top SEC teams (along with some of our conference mates like USC, and Stanford) have some guys who spend multiple years on the bench who would see significant playing time for the sheep or us.
