Dustin Thomas - Coaching disagreement and transferred
George King - 1 year sixth man, inconsistent, two year starter
Treshawn Fletcher - reserve, passively may not reach potential, one year starter
Jaron Hopkins - never reached potential and transferred
2014
Dom Collier - three year starter, two years of strength and acclimatization, overhyped.
Tory Miller - nice body, role player. Maybe junior and senior starter.
Josh Fortune - TNFR - same contribution as King and fletcher.
2015
Thomas Akyazili - decent role player, limited physical skill set.
Kenan Guzonjic - JUCO scramble to find a warm body to replace holes from 2013
Now this isn't as embarrassing as macintyre trying to recruit, and tad gets a lot of leeway for the three tourney appearances, but the window is closing after josh Scott leaves. There's nothing behind him. Hopefully dance this year and then the recruiting misses come home to roost. Cal, Oregon, Washington et al are out recruiting us. We may sit in the bottom third of the pac permanently.
You complain a lot for a guy who's team avareges 20 wins a year and has made the NCAA tourney 3 of the last 5 years. Did you work for BZ and are now pissed all the fans love Tad but don't acknowledge BZ helped get this place going in the right direction? Did you watch tad yell at too many players in practice and suspend people for being 30 seconds late - so you dislike him for being mean? Did he not cow-tow enough to your favorite CU star?
We are 12-3 even is we hit your 9-9 prediction we win 20 games for the 5th time in 6 years and we position ourselves to win a couple games in the pac-12 tourney and for an NCAA bid. Sure Tad is human, maybe it pisses you off that you feel some of us aren't critical enough of the moves he makes and his shortcomings. We all know the offense needs work, but doing things like calling Tad a "loser like macintyre" I mean really? Tad is human, not everything is going to be perfect, but save last year he's won 20 games every year put us in the dance 60% of the time and at 12-3 with an RPI of 20 right now he has a decent shot to have us dancing again.
Maybe you want to talk about recruiting misses? lets talk guys we were close on but missed - as opposed to players you've decided how they are going to pan out. Our recent misses: Dorsey, Heild, Hamilton, Wallace - all of those guys were heavily interested in CU and we lost out. Things happen but do you know what this team looks like with even some those guys on it?
Or perhaps current personnel:
- Fletch, you've always been down on him, but this is a kid who came in early and as he was adjusting to the college game and showing some promise he got injured, it took him nearly a year to recover from that injury. This year he has improved significantly and provides us with a positive contribution to team. He's not the player some of us hoped for when he came out of high-school as a top 150 recruit. He's also not the waste of a scholarship you've called him.
- King - really? hes 15 games into his Soph season, second on the team in scoring and offensive win-shares, terrible pick up. Sure his freshman (7 seconds or less) campaign was bad but he's miles ahead of what any of us expected this year. To put it in perspective as a Soph at this point in the season only: Spencer, Burks, & Higgins have averaged more than the 13 a game King is averaging and all were playing more minutes.
- Fortune is as others said what we though he would be, he's second on the team in minutes, third in scoring, third in defense (which could be better) but this was a good pick up that gives us some toughness and makes for a nice 3 man wing rotation. Despite how close they look statistically in Gooses' comparison complaining about this along with King/Fletcher is obnoxious all three are very much pac-12 caliber players.
- Collier - was probably over hyped coming in, didnt help he got to college lacking size and discipline, got himself in trouble, then injured last year, his frosh campaign was basically a waste. He's come into his own this year, looks perfectly at home again the best teams we've played, has improved his 3pt and ft shooting drastically. He will be a positive contributor this year and a significant player for us next year and beyond.
- Miller - those feet need work, needs to probably drop 10lbs and needs to figure out how not to be clueless on D - at his age that is a question.
- Kenan looks like a bust but showing up fat and smoking 2 packs a day will do that, not real confident of a turn here.
- AK - has played 15 games, he's young but so far he's been what you want a steady hand of the bench.
None of these have anything to do with this year or hurt us now, but they make for nice complaining:
- DT fit the stretch 3/4 Tad wants, was a baller in high-school, had an impossibly tough time adjusting to boulder, clashed with not just coaches but the whole town and his teammates and left, scholly not on books (being arguably used by Fortune).
- JT never could learn to shoot well enough to play at the p5 level, but he was highly recruited, or should we not offer and compete for people UofA offers?
- we missed on Ben mills he's also gone.
Or how about the future?
We are replacing XT&Eli with Peters and Brown, I'll take that.
Losing Josh will hurt, alot, we all admit that, we even have a whole thread devoted to opportunities to sign a big.
So...can I ask what you major malfunction is?
