Unstoppable Offense!

The Offense today was unstoppable at the scrimmage. I'm convinced Smith is the best receiver on the team. He had three amazing touchdown catches that were all off of deep passes. The running game was absolutely smash mouth and all of the backs (Charles, Moyd, Lockridge, Ellis) looked very solid. Lockridge and Ellis played the best out of any of them in my opinion. I think all together the offense scored 35 points. The defense also had its moments today, several nice sacks which looked like they were painful:wow:. They also had some nice interceptions. Riar Greer went out of the game about half way through and it looked like his ankle was bothering him. They taped it up, i'm still not sure of his condition. Over all it was a fantastic day, and i'm pumped for the Lammies!

Good to hear! Last year we didn't hear this in the fall camp scrimmages. Of course, they will have to do this in actual game time, but this is a good sign.

Sumler played, he had some very good powerful runs. Take my word for it, all of the backs were solid. Smith looks like a seasoned veteran. He was even burning T-Wheat if you can belive it!

Thanks for the update!! Over on another board they mentioned that the D looked non-existant? No pass rush! Who was the on the 1st team OL? Were the sacks that you saw late on in the scrimmage? What CB looked good? I pleased to hear Smith showing up. Maybe he could be this years Bowden out of Okie St?! What were our formations? Dble wide w/ slot? Dble TE set?

My belief is that the coached going in may not have allowed any blitzes cause the D is always ahead of the O!!

The sacks I saw were first team versus first team. It was very back and forth between the defense and offense for the first half of practice, then the offense began to take over. The defense doesn't concern me, they had their fair share of plays. The majority of the points just came from baby Hawk and Nelson rolling out and hooking up with Smith.

Any indication of who the leader is for the starting QB position, or is it still too early to tell? I ready that Nelson played 6 series and Cody played 4, for what that's worth.

They both played awesome, honestly I don't know how they're gonne decide. Flip a coin?

Do you think there will be more offense overall this year? I was surprised by last year's low score, although both defenses proved themselves to be pretty stout as the year progressed. Frankly, both defenses were a lot better than their stats because the offenses left them on the field so much.

These rivalry games are hard to call, especially when they're the first game of the season. With so many unknowns and both teams looking so horrible last year, this one is particularly hard to call. Given Kyle Bell's return, a veteran QB and so many returning players, I think CSU has an edge but I sure wouldn't bet money on this one.

Do you think that Kyle is fully recovered and ready to go? I know you never know how a kid is going to come back from a serious knee injury, but what do you hear? (Of course, you never know until the first game when he gets hammered by someone and you see how he reacts)

It should be a good one.

I'm going to chime in on this one. I was lucky enough to catch the morning practice on Saturday. Quarterback? Cody has this one, he was hitting all the receivers, Nelson seemed to either leed them too much or he was throwing behind them. The wide recievers though, hold **** did they look good, Josh Smith and Patrick Williams were catching everything. One thing that did worry me was DiLallo, not sure how he looked in the scrimmage but he seemed to hit everything off the side of his foot or something. Other than that, good to watch, O-line and the TE's (Nate Solder, that is one huge man, he towered over everyone) looked good. CAN'T WAIT TO WATCH THEM POUND THE lambs!!!!

Hi Chicago :smile2:
welcome back ..long time no see in these parts

Thanks; happy to be back. This year feels even more intense than usual. Should be a great atmosphere; hopefully, it will be a great game. Every time I think it's going to be close (like this year), it seems to be a blowout one way or the other. I hope this one is fun all the way through!

He says he's 100% but he would never say anything else. I don't think he's seen enough time on the field for anyone to know for sure, although my fellow Ram fans seem to think he's fine when they watch practice through their green and gold glasses...

Frankly, I don't think he would have had a great year last year. Our o-line was awful and there were simply no holes to run through. The o-line is supposedly a lot better this year; in my opinion, that will have a bigger impact on our running game than Bell returning (although he is a great back).

I agree that we won't know until the game is underway if he's back or not.
