Saw this idea tossed around earlier, and thought this was as good a game as any to test it out.
The team did not play with any energy for the 2nd half or the first 4:45 of 1OT either. That being said, they locked down the defense and started hitting the necessary shots when they needed to.
In as close to a most win game as there has been all season, the buffs found a way to pull it out when it looked like they couldn't have cared less about being there. Really really going to need Josh on Saturday.

The defense really tightened and forced some poor deep shots, which were missed, resulting in long rebounds, that kept finding WSU hands. It was almost comical.
Talton played with tremendous poise down the stretch, taking the ball to the rim twice, resulting in a bucket and a beautiful drop-off to Wes, who dunked and got +1 iirc. Then of course, he was money at the line. Had no idea he was 92% FT % on the year.
Wes just doesn't get enough credit either. The guy may be the #1 defender in the league because he not only is tough inside and protects the rim, but he's also protecting the 3-point line and gets switched off all the time onto smaller guys and he has the ability to do a pretty good job on them.

If Reggie Evans can play in the League, so can Wes. He just needs to improve his explosiveness at the rim. My only complaint is he chucks garbage at the rim from 2ft instead of dunking it.
The BUFFS really grinded one out last night, and looked like crap. Awesome win.

I like that the broadcast crew called the student section out.
About the only thing they did that was worth anything. That crew was ridiculously annoying.
Last night drove home how important Dom and josh are to our offense this year. Dom was a ridiculous +24 while on the floor
Dom showed some attitude last night when he got thrown to the floor with no call, then came right back inside, got contact and hit the shot. Need some more of that. A lot more of that.

Wazzu does have some nice pieces with Hawkinson, Iroegbu, and Que Johnson (Johnson seems to always show up big against us). I don't think they are 1 win the Pac bad.
If Washington comes in and kills us with Scott, Fletch and Dom playing, I'll be concerned. Until then, I'm really not. Even Wazzu is too good to not take advantage of our roster last night.

Glad to see the post-game thread come about.
I'm extremely relieved we won, but throughout the second half and OTs (made it home late to watch last night) I cannot shake the feeling that as long as we have Tad as our guy, our gameday coaching will be below average.
Every single time we called a timeout, and when we'd desperately need a bucket, we came back out with a terrible possession. I even told my friends during our last TO in regulation the that I knew Fortune would be hoisting up a garbage 3-pointer, and that's of course what happened.
Compare that with WSU coming out of timeouts, and they always seemed to have a decent play.

Glad we got the W, because if you look at the schedule, we could be on the verge of losing 5 of our last 6 games and missing the NCAAs. This is a bad time for the Buffs to be battered and bruised. We're going to need to play much better down the stretch. We need to hold Home court and play much better against UW, UofA, and ASU....
I don't want to sound like Tini, but I feel like we're closer to going 5-1 than 1-5 over the end. We play well at home (with occasional exceptions). UW & ASU should be wins. We "get up" for Arizona. There's a chance they're about to start peaking with Trier coming back and Anderson killing fools, but that will be a fun matchup. We suck on the road, but I actually like our odds against the LA schools & Utah.
3-3/4-2 should be the expectation.

CU should have won by a large margin but simply didn't put out the effort and concentration to make it a comfortable win. Even with Josh out this game should not have been close.
My biggest problem during the Tad era, and I still consider us lucky to have him as a coach, is that we go into stretches were it looks like we have no clue what to do on offense. Most of the time these run 5-12 minutes of clock time, last night it extended well over a half. We were lucky to come out with a win and not be totally embarassed.
It had no bearing on the outcome of the game, that was on us, but the PAC12 has got to figure out some way to have something resembling competent officiating. Those guys last night couldn't even get it right when they had replay. They called phantom fouls and missed obvious muggings, what was a call in one part of the game wasn't in a different part of the game. It was almost like they were watching a different game than the rest of us.
Again it didn't change the outcome of the game, that was on the players, but the officials almost made the game unwatchable for me last night. As clueless as the broadcast crew was even they had a hard time containing their comments and they work for the league.

I hate watching games with Mclean. We almost always have a bad night when he is calling it and he is the type of announcer who is always pointing out the negative instead of the positive. When we have a bad night and he is the announcer, I usually put it on mute. My wife hates him.
btw does Walton not do P12 games anymore?
He does. He called Cal vs Oregon last night.

I'm concerned about Josh. After every time out he appeared to me to walk quite gingerly from the huddle to his chair. I hope I perceived it worse than it was.
I have to agree with NBDefektor and BIGEZ321. We do NOT have good game day coaching. No adjustments, horrible inbounds plays, nothing unique. Almost every game, teams come out and go on an immediate run in the 2nd half because they made adjustments and we didn't.
I don't think we beat WA without a 100% J40. They KILLED us there. UA is much more talented. I see wins vs. ASU and 1 in southern CA (U$C?) but I think we lose the rest. Maybe a miracle at UTAH.

They don't call it the "dog days of February" for nothing. The college basketball season is a grind. We're not the only team that is tired and bruised right now. Everyone is. But these final 6 games determine whether we're experiencing the prestige of the NCAA Tournament, or getting ready to face Boise State in the NIT.
Scott is going to be ok, even if it's not tomorrow. It's common sense that a big dude with all that weight will not heal an ankle as quickly. Regardless, tomorrow has got to be a W. Find a way. We're going to get their best shot. They're 15-9 with an RPI at 57, they know damn well what a top 50 road win does for their hopes and they certainly view us as beatable. Come March, one of CU/UW will not be dancing. Our loss in Corvallis has made getting a top 4 seed more difficult, although it's still possible. If we aren't going to get a bye, I hope we can get the 5. HUGE difference between facing Wazzu in the 5/12 or ASU/Stanford as a 6/7

They may be afraid to send him to a legalized state (CO and Wash) Afraid they may never get him back for his next assignment.

Only two games were the Buffs outscored in the "first four" of the second half - vs Cal (9-6) and at Wazzu (10-8).

I think you got confused by the team. Everything you mentioned is correct, but here is not the football board.
Anyone have the Play By Play for the ISU or UNO games? ESPN doesn't have them for some reason, nor does CBS, CU or the P12. I have every other game figured out except for those and the results are overwhelmingly in CU's favor - but I think the UNO game will bring the number down a bit.
