72-79 loss

Final USC run from down 15 by going to zone, CU guards being able to take care of the ball, penetrate, or make a shot. Offensive ineptness from the backcourt almost matched by their embarrassing display on defense, allowing McLaughlin and Jacobs to absolutely dominate them.

20 turnovers

Buffs +16 on the glass, shot 46.3% (38.9% 3pt).

Supposed to be a winning formula.

But again... 20 TURNOVERS!

Forwards:
Josh: 17p, 3r, 0a, 1s, 0t
Wes: 13p, 7r, 1a, 0s, 2b, 0t
Tory: 2p, 5r, 0a, 1s, 0b, 1t
Fletch: 8p, 1r, 2a, 0s, 0b, 0t

Guards:
Dom: 0p, 1r, 0a, 0s, 0b, 6t
Fortune: 10p, 4r, 2a, 0s, 0b, 2t
King: 13p, 9r, 0a, 1s, 1b, 6t
Yaz: 2p, 1r, 4a, 0s, 0b, 2t
XT: 7p, 3r, 0a, 0s, 1b, 3t

Dom's stat line may be the single worst performance by a starting PG in D1 basketball this season. I have no idea what's wrong with him, but he should be ashamed of tonight.

I know Tad loves recruiting his wings, but good guard play is obviously vital in the college game, and we lack competency in that area. At this point, I'd bet on a freshman starting point guard next year. If he's not good enough, then it's probably going to be a long season next year.

With that out of the way, I really hope they figure things out down the stretch. I really like this team and truly think they can be special if they get some confidence.

When we were kicking ass around 11:00 minutes to go, I took stock of the situation and thought, no matter what, the potential is there. Now, whether that potential is ever realized is another story. But I see glimmers of hope that could propel is into the Sweet 16.

...or we completely and totally collapse and we miss out on the Tourney all together. Guess we're gonna find out.

Have to get to the NCAA tourney first. This team can't play a good game for 40 mins. I'm guessing we will lose 3 out of the next 4 games as well. Morale will be low after this one. Could end up on the wrong side of the bubble. What is scary is how quickly these guys melted down tonight. Gotta question heart and leadership. Gordon was great though.

Dom looked like he was scared. T.A. should start.

Awful loss. 20 turnovers and no answer against a zone. Enfield outcoached Tad down the stretch tonight.

We have been saying this for 4 ****ing years ... what the **** is with the continuous scoring droughts at the end of games? New players but the same old **** keeps happening. That tells me its totally on Tad. Happens far too often. Like people have said, but for King hitting that miracle shot vs WSU and Andrews missing a gimme jumper, we'd be talking about a team that's way on the wrong side of the bubble right now.

When is Tad held accountable for this ****? Does Rick George say something? "Hey, um, we need to use our timeouts, Tad." or "Let's draw up some plays against the zone." Something has to change or this program will always be on the cusp.

Guys, guys, guys. Would you really rather have a different coach? Man, we've gotten pretty damned spoiled and ungrateful. I wouldn't trade Tad for 99% of the coaches out there.

Sure, Tad has brought this program to a new level, and we love him for that ... but it doesn't mean he's beyond reproach. Nobody can deny that his late game coaching is ****ing bush league. Then there's the total inability to get a playmaking PG in a league that absolutely demands one. For ****s sake ... WSU has one!

Dom was a top 100 recruit, man.

Dom was a top 100 recruit, man.
He was, but anybody can plainly see from the very beginning that he doesn't have the quickness to be a consistent playmaker ... a slasher, creator, someone who can fairly consistently break a guy down off the dribble. Look at every other P12 team ... they have that guy. We don't. Yaz is the closest thing but he can't shoot a lick ... yet, anyway. There's hope for him.

It's telling that it took being up 15 points with 8 minutes left until I got my hopes up...and we still lost.

That's 3 games in a row now that we've blown leads of 13-17 points, right? Got away with it twice.

All of that dribbling against a zone. And the lack of a timely timeout.

We knew wins would be hard to come by in this final stretch. Sure, winning at USC was unlikely, but when you're up 15 with 8 minutes left you HAVE to finish. It was a 33-7 run at one point. That's inexcusable.

Have to move on quickly or we will be 8-8 after these next 2. This team has the potential for this to be a special season still, but not unless guard play drastically improves. We'll see what they're made of in these next 2.

Does Tad still run that drill where he puts a lid on the basket and the team has to get stops to win? I believe against SMU, Utah, Washington St, Washington, and USC we have blown double digit leads late. Fortunately, we won 2 of those. But something has to change. I get you're gonna blow a lead occasionally, but that seems way to often to me. We never seem to get up 15 and then win by 20 or 25

and Stanford. Right?

He needs to run a drill where the defenders get to hold 5 ft. poles to defend.

I'm glad this is all on Tad and the players have no accountability. All we have to do is find another coach and we'll be golden. All we needed was a time out or two and we'd have won. Doh!

Josh knows its not just on coaching

“It's the same guys. It's no secret who's turning the ball over,” Scott said. “People have to figure it out, because it's costing us games. Frankly I'm very frustrated with it. Kind of sitting out (the past week) we've turned the ball over a lot at practice. Everyone thinks it's OK, but it comes back and bites you in games. How you practice is how you play. People need to figure that out, and quickly.”

No adjustments whatsoever. Sat on 3 timeouts until the lead was lost. Tad and staff need to recognize when they're getting outcoached. Once the lead was down to single digits you could see the momentum shift.

Some of it is on Tad, just because of the frequency that these collapses seem to occur. But ultimately it's on the players. King needs to take the next step and demand the ball in these situations. He's the best all around scorer on the team by far. Similar to what Mclaughlin did for USC. Maybe he was and our other guards were just turning the ball over before he could

Another golden opportunity squandered. We don't get many of these. Fortunately, we do get another one in a couple days.

King also had a stretch there at the end where he turned it over a couple times too. The team did fine against the zone in the beginning of the game. Not sure what happened but the way the players attacked the zone at the end of the game was completely different.

King was a turnover machine and fueled their run. He had the ball, he lost it, he lost his confidence. Whole team did. Can t believe I saw this team scared to shoot

That was weird. They weren't even looking to shoot.

Didn't realize he had 6 turnovers. That's way too many for anybody. Let alone a non PG.

Its amazing how quick buff fans, and I am not talking specifically about this board, have turned on Tad. Especially with how this season is still not over and there are plenty of opportunities to secure some wins and make the dance.

The one revenue sport that is mildly successful and pretty consistent, and people want to fire the coach.
