I've been meaning to post a profile for Sparaco for a while now.

Looks like he's a player. He's been doing a lot of camps (Army Combine, Notre Dame, Texas, etc.). Offer is an old one from CSU given out by McElwain.

Big question here is whether he's a QB in college or converts to the defensive side. Might be a DE at CU's level.

No way we get him, and I don't think that's a bad thing.

The hashtags he used to announce his CU offer seem to indicate that he is a fan.

At his size, I immediately thought tight end. Either way, I hope he comes to CU.

SIAP but apparently he's going to creek next year and not Pomona. I saw him today at creeks summer workouts and didn't initially recognize him, so I asked one of the others players who he was and he said it was Dante. I saw this rumor over on the rivals board earlier also but I didn't know it was official until now.

Yep. I confirm that as well. Apparently he wasn't getting along with anyone at Pomona and he was never going to be QB over there (he won't be at Creek this year either), so he decided to go play TE for Logan.

It also doesn't hurt that Michael played for Madden's dad and has known Jay his entire life.

It's really too bad for Pomona. From all accounts, Sparaco's a pretty good player and could have been a two way player for them. The rich get richer down at Creek... Smh, fml, etc.

It sounds like Sparaco was told he had no shot at QB. They said play next to our All-American caliber LT for the next two years and we will dominate. He didn't like hearing that.

Goes to Creek and hears the same thing but it's Dave Logan, so of course he will listen.

Sparaco was not a QB. He is athletic but he is more like an athletic OT. I hear his mitts are not good and we will likely see him end up a college DL or OL. At his size as a junior, he should be realistic, he is no longer allowed to run over inferior athletes in 2A football. 5A football from 2A football is like moving up to Division I after being a Division II stud. A couple athletes can compete but the level of competition is much better here. I watched his highlights and as a QB he looks like he is playing against a freshman level team as a varsity athlete.

Completely agree. It will be interesting to see how he stacks up against Valor and Grandview. Pretty far cry from Conifer and Palisade.

While the speculation is that this was over playing QB, the word from people closer to the situation is that this is not the case at all.

Dante made the decision to focus on DE/TE because that's his opportunity at the next level. He wasn't happy at Pomona (I don't know details) and decided on Creek instead.

I know that it's easy to speculate and assume that he's a prima donna or something, but what I've heard is that this is not the case at all. Just a kid and his family trying to do the right things to put him in the best situation to have a great finish to high school that provides the best opportunity to pursue his college dreams.

FTR, I don't think he's a prima donna, but he could have also played DE/TE at Pomona. Like I said, from what I heard, he wasn't getting along with other players at Pomona and when Logan came calling, it was a done deal.

Good for him. I hope it works out.

Caplis will start at QB again for Creek. I'll have to check in again, but there is a rumor that the youngest McCaffrey is going to Creek. He will be a Freshman this year. Ed doesn't want him and Dylan to be competing for a spot over at Valor. Look for the youngest McCaffrey to start at Creek as a Sophomore.

I hope good old CHSAA doesn't screw him over. I assume his family moved to Cherry Creek.

Eager to hear from anyone who gets to see Dante play this season. Seems to be very high on the Buffs and all reports were that he took to the DL as he camped this summer and learned the new techniques.

Great stuff, as always Adam.

“Right now when I look at schools, I look at it in the light of wanting to find the best place where I can get a good education and play big time football, balancing both,” Sparaco said.

Sounds like the perfect match with our new facilities/support system.

He's 6'4" 253. The way his body is developing, I think he's a 3-4 DE for us by the time he hits the field. Chance that he maintains about that size and plays more of the new OLB role that McCartney is in.

It will be interesting to see how he does this fall.
