What are the expectations going forward in football?

Both short-term and long-term. Relevant because I think there has been such an interesting reaction to basketball success under Tad Boyle.

Bowl game every year and compete for the pac12 south division title once every four years would be my expectation for the long term. Basketball is different IMO because one player has such an impact and recruiting is so shady.

My expectation this year is a winning season. 7-6. Where that 7th win comes from, Idc. Moving forward, I expect incremental increase up the Pac-12 ladder, with us competing for a Pac-12 south title sometime in the next 5 years.

Bowl game this year. Hard to say for next because of the QB uncertainty. Beyond that getting back to winning 7+ games annually while we continue to upgrade staff, game day expereince, and right the financial house. When it becomes feasible to sell the plateaued narrative make a move on a better HC option.

I think the question if we want to relate football to hoops is what is equivalent of 20-10 - is that 8-4? is it 9-3? CU's expectations for football should on the historical average be higher than basketball, especially with the disproportionate investment in FB. In hoops consistent 20-10 with NCAA bids in more than half the years a good bar for our program today. What is that number for football?

My expectations for the football program are that it gets to a level roughly the same as where the basketball program is now. I want to expect to win every home game, regardless of opponent. I want to be in the conversation for conference titles. Understanding there are off years from time to time, but that those are exceptions, not the rule.
The basketball team wins twice as many games as it loses. That's pretty much where I want the football program to be. 8-4 records will get you into bowl games and will have you ranked more times than not.

This. Then when we're upset about winning only 8 games change that to 10+ and top 15 ranking or the world is falling apart.

More than anything we need to start winning some ****ign home games.

Short Term: Bowl Game. Don't care how.

Mid Term: Going into every season with the mindset that CU can legitimately compete for the Pac 12 South, and not being laughed at by other P12 fans for having that mentality.

Long Term: Being a perennial bowl team that is always on the fringe or in the top 25, with every 2-3 years being able to vault into the top 15 and have a legitimate shot of winning the Pac 12 and earning a playoff bid.

Short Term (next 2 years)
- Exit bottom of P12 South in both record and recruiting, measured by 2016 bowl eligibility and 2017 incoming class ranked above 1 or more P12S peers (looking at AZ, UT).
Break losing streak against ASU.
> 11,000 season ticket holders and avg > 42,500 attendance. Win more than lose at home.
Coaches payroll middle to upper half of conference.

Long Term - Compete in CCG 1 or more times every 4 years and win conference better than 1 of every 7. Ranked in top 25 at end of season 1 of every 3 years or better.
Recruiting better than at least 2 California schools every year and regularly out recruit 7 or more P12 peers.
Win as many recruiting battles as we lose against Stanford.
> 21,000 season ticket holders and sell out Folsom > 3 times each season.
Break losing streak with USC, including win in LA 1 of 4 trips or better.
Coach's payroll among top 4 in conference.

Balch/Flatirons Club renovations.

Don't give reasons for local media to give program negative press for off field activities.

Delete your mid term and scale back your long term a little bit and you have my answer

Short term: Bowl game
Long term: average 8 wins and top third in recruiting classes for Pac.

I would be very happy if they achieve this while maintaining current graduation rates and arrest records.

The optimist is outweighing the pesimist and preventing me from putting down my prediction for next season.

I think Sacky pretty much nailed. But, I like 96's answer too. Go Buffs!

As far as character, I expect us to have the first or second defense in the Pac12 South (long term) regardless of offense and a couple of good kickers.

Every 2-3 years seems a little optimistic imo. Maybe every 5.
Yeah, I guess I just look at it like, if we're a fringe top 25, 8-4 team every year, then hopefully every 2-3 years we'll have recruited well enough and have the pieces to be a top 15 team. I would take every 5 years too, though.

I think we will make a bowl game this year and I think we need to for a lot of reasons.

For the future, eventually I want us back to where we were during the end of the McCartney years. We were one tough out and stood a good chance to win against anyone we played, anytime we took the field. I want other programs to fear the Buffs again.

I do still believe our current coach can get that done with the right pieces. But to me, this year tells the story.

Basketball expectations are different. This is a football school. Consistently pretty good and entertaining won't cut it. Need to get to that level and maintain it first, though. The 2017 recruiting class needs to be good enough to set a realistic expectation of competing for conference titles starting 2-3 years from now.

Bowl game EVERY year
Compete for pac12 south title every 3
Pac 12 title 1 out of every 5 years.

Is that a goal or expectation? Because that equates to 2 national championship playoffs a decade

Fair. All home games/CSU in 2016 should be considered "winnable". Of the home/neutral games, I could see them going 4-3 or 5-2 (best case), which means they'll have to get themselves at least one, if not two road wins...

I like it.

We've only got four more years to win a conference title to keep our "at least once a decade" streak alive (in our whole history we only missed the 50s). I think of that as a short term goal, and it's one I want pretty badly.

My long term goal is essentially the same: I want that streak to continue indefinitely. Ultimately if you're going to win the conference championship at least once a decade, you're going to have to be making a legitimate run at it two to four times a decade, and you can't afford any of these ****ty, multi-year losing streaks.
