2016 BBall Transfers Thread

No surprise, was dropping down the depth chart with Alkins and Simmons coming in next year. Nice to see the classy chards at pgu tweeting that Simon was never 'Arizona good'. Ha- they were sure excited when Simon committed a couple of years ago.

Tyler Dorsey wasn't 'Arizona good' either. I'll never understood why top 50 kids, especially guards, who aren't top 10-15 in their class would choose a program where they risk riding the bench.

Forward Mickey Mitchell, PG AJ Harris and I think another guy. Guard Spike Albrecht is leaving Michigan, eligible immediately.

iirc, they were part of a pretty well ranked class. That's a lot to lose at one time and it makes me wonder what's going on in columbus.

Weird, huh? Thad Matta's still a young coach (late 40s) and a few years ago it looked like he had built a program that was going to sustain as an elite. Downward trend that doesn't make a lot of sense to me as an outsider.

Exactly. This is a really unexpected turn of events.

A guy named Max Strus is transferring from D2 Lewis college. He averaged 24/8/4 and put up over 40 against two D1 programs this season.

He picked up a Xavier offer today. 6'4" shooting guard.

3 to play 2.

EDIT: Strus to DePaul 4/23

For what it's worth, here are his profile (http://www.lewisflyers.com/roster.aspx?rp_id=4940&path=mbball) and stats (http://www.lewisflyers.com/custompages/stats/mbball/2015-16/teamcume.htm).
Notes-
1) Although we all know how cavalier some schools list heights, his school lists him at 6'6".
2) The team stats page show him as a 20.2 points/8.4 reb./ 3.5 assists/game player this (sophomore) season. Seems to be a good shooter (.360 from 3, .823 from the FT line).
3) Assume he had the ball A LOT, and he did average over 36 minutes per game, but his 110 turnovers could be a worrisome number for how he might fare when he faces much tougher and athletic defenses in D1. (Fortune led the Buffs this year in TO's with 76.)
2) For those like me who didn't know what/ where the heck Lewis is, or initially lazily read it as Ft. Lewis, Lewis Univ. is a private (Per Wikipedia- Roman Catholic/ Lasallian (whatever that is???)) school in Romeoville, IL, and has around 6,800 students.

I picked up what info I had on the Illinois board, some of it seems a little off. They were impressd with him from an exhibition type game against them. He allegedly has very long arms, something like a 6'9" reach.

Without knowing how he passes the "eyeball" test as to how his game would translate to D1, the stats indicate he could be a contributor there. Haven't found the time to watch it, but did find this highlight film from this past season- .

Damn. Tre is a massive loss. Really turned the corner in the second half of the season.
Fletcher would've needed someone to get hurt to get meaningful minutes next year. Please, Please, let's get a Senior Big Man transfer that can play for 1 year and give us some quality mins. Would like a shot blocker/rebounder, thank you!

Like the idea. Would much prefer a younger JUCO transfer like Bigby-Williams who would be here with Tory after Wes graduates, though.

With 4, maybe 5 key guys leaving after next year, I can't imagine Tad is interested in 1 year rentals

Get the right one, they help lead us to a sweet 16 and it suddenly makes it a lot easier to fill that scholarship. Risk/reward.

Sure. I mean, if Kay Felder decided to graduate early and run the point here next year I don't think we'd be turning him down. :D

But I don't know if there are that many 1 year rentals who would mean that much. Of those who have announced, maybe someone like Grant Mullins would provide immediate help but the competition there is ridiculous.
