BOULDER — Just three years into its existence, the Colorado women’s lacrosse team has had plenty of positive storylines. The list includes three winning seasons, three MPSF conference tournament berths and a pair of tourney semifinal appearances.

But this year, the Buffs are aiming to write a different finish with a longer storyline — one that stretches past the conference tourney semifinals and perhaps includes the program’s first-ever NCAA Tournament appearance.

No. 3 seed Colorado will have the opportunity beginning Thursday when the Buffs face No. 6 Oregon in a 5 p.m. MPSF tournament matchup at Stanford’s Cagan Stadium. A win over the Ducks — a team Colorado defeated 14-9 last Sunday — would send CU into Friday’s semifinals against No. 2 seed Stanford.

About 5 minutes til the opening draw. Great to see there IS a live stream being offered.

No score with both goalies making a couple big saves. Tough pressure by both teams creating turnovers so far, with the Ducks being full-field pressure while the Buffs have mainly created issues on their defensive half.

And, as I write this, Buffs score! Castagnola gets it. 1-0 CU

Heartbreak. Buffs get a goal evidently RIGHT after the half ends, so it doesn't count. Still 6-1, at the half is obviously OK.

Defense has been great so far, and I believe announcer said goalie Soenksen, last I heard, has at least 4 saves. (Unfortunately, live stats seem to have been broken almost all half, at least for me.) Edit- live stats suddenly updated finally. Make that 5 saves. (The Duck goalie has also been good, and has 6 saves herself.)

10-2! Another fast break with Brown making a beautiful pass right in front to Macleay.

ducks get one back. 10-3 with 7:34 left.

Then, Buffs play keep away before Oregon empties their net, soon after which Link gets her 1st of the game on the easiest goal she'll ever score (~3 yds. away with no goalie present). 1:50 left.

Buffs WIN!!! 11-3 is the final. GREAT defensive and overall effort.

Hope they get some good rest and are ready for the Cardinal at 8:00 MT tomorrow night.
