ESPN ESPN PAC-12 Blog: College football roundtable: Best stadium

Never been to Husky Stadium, but too much Folsom love here to accept it's #1.

I can see it. Mostly cuz it is mostly full for every game.

If Folsom was rocking every weekend, opinions would change. Definitely doesn't get any more beautiful than a fall day at Folsom Field, but the way Husky Stadium is built probably enhances the game day atmosphere. I hear that place is LOUD.

It's those damn rain covers, same **** seattle uses to boost their noise.

Oh I know how they do it. I know it is a bit artificial, but no doubt has an impact on the atmosphere. They engineered those rain covers to direct sound back towards the center of the football field. 2 in 1 design.

Folsom still needs a lot of renovation to be in this conversation. It's on campus, which is huge because I'd rule out any stadium that isn't. It's got amazing views. It's designed in a way that gives great sight lines and gets loud as hell. It feels like a college stadium unlike a place such as Stanford with all the artificial noise being pumped in through small speakers that are in every seating area. But right now the west side is dumpy, the sound system is antiquated, and most of the seating, bathrooms and other amenities are straight out of the 1970s. Fix all that and I think it will be one of the best stadiums in the country.

Have we fixed the game-day press buffet? Keeping the press happy is important, for lots of reasons, and I have yet to meet a reporter that can't be bribed with decent food & drink. It's a quick and relatively cheap fix that would merit immediate changes in media coverage.

Along those same lines, I know the press boxes will be redone when the west side of the stadium and/or Balch is done. But literally anything that can be done to make the press more comfortable during the game would also reap immediate benefits.

When they do get around to working on the West side, they really need to duplicate what they did on the East side with the champions center. The look of the North end needs to be uniform. Close in the stadium. The potential is incredible.
