Just throwing last thoughts out there...
My impressions were that of a sort-of scared to win mentality from Sonny during that fourth quarter. Mind you, the Buff D was finally adjusting after CSU scored their last TD in the third quarter and we effectively did more or less shut them down for the rest of the game however...
...did it just seem like their squad lacked that "Stomp on their throat" mentality, especially on their drive with under 5 minutes to go in the game. Hell, if I was Sonny's O-coordinator, I would have told the QB to chuck that rock every down, screw the clock. It just seemed like they were in prevent offense towards the end and it cost them.
Am I alone in thinking this? Was the Buff D that superior late that CSU felt the need to just melt clock and take their chances on D?
As for the Buffs... well, frankly I felt the only point of contention in my mind was that critical 3rd and 1 in the Rams red zone late in the game.
Why we burned so much time off the clock and wound up using a timeout was silly to me.
We should have lined up and run a sneak play or something rather than burn that timeout needlessly (only to not convert that 3rd down afterwards anyway). Then we might have still had a chance for a fresh first and goal situation to win the game outright.
Other than that, I thought we really came out with some great passion after being down by double digits. The real grit of this team came out on that long TD drive in the third quarter. I thought we showed some great poise for a damn young squad with that drive and I look forward to seeing what we can do at full-strength on the O.
