back in the day, i would bet a friend of mine who attended csu... if CU had more losses in a season than csu had wins, then he'd win.

i figure csu is due for a 3 or 4 win season this year, but i don't think our Buffs are a 9-3 type team yet, unfortunately. ah, well... it will be good to restore the tradition down the road. :smile2:

even tho i think our Buffs will be very challenged by asu and fsu, i feel a bit of long term optimism returning to my system and it has been a few years since that was true.

Absolutely. It will take hawk awhile to install all of his players for his offense. I will be happy if we win 5-6 games this year. There are just too many new players out there.

I half agree with you. We are about a year away or so on offense. They are gonna be scary good once all the young players get more experience under their belt.

Defense is another story. I'm not convinced yet. We'll see how the year progresses.

I saw a lot of good things on Saturday but honestly....your defense is garbage. you still got about 2-3 seasons. I was actually kind of dissappointed. I was hoping the North would look better once CU started clicking. I hope I'm wrong.

Keep in ind we had 3 contributors on Defense suspended for this game, that can only help.

Screw you all. We're undefeated. I will not concede a game until the last whistle blows.

Go Buffs! See you all at the BCS title game!

After having some time to let the game sink in, I'm trying not to get overly excited and blinded by a 3 point win over CSU.

I'm thrilled the Buffs won, don't get me wrong, but there are some pretty glaring weaknesses that I saw in the CSU game.

Pass defense- man.....how long has it been since we felt like the team would get off the field on 3rd and long? This carries back to the GB days. I really though t our DL vs. their OL would be big advantage for us. Unless CSU OL has made huge strides from last year, what I thought was a team strength sure did not look like it on Sat.

Pass Offense- Maybe it just was not firing on all cylinders on Sat. put the TE's were not as involved as I was hoping they would have been and we need J-Fly back. It still seems the passing game is void of a big time playmaker. Not to say there might not be some on the roster, but they need to break out pronto. Cody got clobbered on Sat. While he only got sacked once, there was a good deal of pressure on him and he was knocked around a lot.

The special teams looked night and day better than last year though, so that was good. This game on Saturday PM is huge. I think a win propels the Buffs to a 7-8 win season, a loss and FSU looming could make for another long season.

Disagree on this. Pass O looked very much improved. Our WR stepped up very well. Just look at the 4th quarter drive. We converted, I think, three 3rd and longs on that drive. When was the last time you saw us complete a 3rd and long the 1st yard marker. Not just last year either. Bugger Watson would consistently have WR running 5 yard routes on 3rd and 9. The 1nd TD pass was a great play. If I recall the WR beat his guy pretty soundly on the play.

Im sticking to my theory that we werent showing ASU/FSU our cards. We ran the WR end around how many times? The direct snap to the RB how many times? I think the playbook opens up a little this week which is where I think the TE will be a factor. Of course if Im an ASU OC Im dreaming up plays for my TE as well....:sad1:

The pass protection did not concern you?

The pass protection did not concern you?

It concerned me some, but some of it was Cody's fault as well. There were a few times where he needed to sense the rush and didn't. He'll learn in time that you can't hold on to the ball too long with an empty backfield.

I would like to see it improved, but Cody had time for the most part. I don't recall seeing Cody have to run around all day waiting for receivers to come open. The pass protection held long enough for the receivers to come open. Given the fact that we didn't take a lot of sacks, or Cody had to pull it down and run that often, makes me think the Passing O will be just fine as they continue to play together. The fact that receivers were getting open and CATCHING passes was a marked improvement over last year.
