He also has set a very high standard for discipline, integrity and work ethic that makes us proud as Nebraskans
Clownahan is a joke of a coach
Yet I bet you would call Hawk a success if he is at the same place Cally is, three years in to the job.
Sorry, but up to this point in his time at NU, I don't think Cally has been a success.
Like I said, if Hawk is at the same point after three years, I bet you consider him a success.
Serious question here. What if USC comes in and slaps Neb by 40 (don't think its going to happen, but always a possibility) and they loose to UT or OU big. Do you think that Neb fans will still be ok with the extension?
From the article:
Uh, what? Discipline, integrity and work ethic? This is said about the guy that gives sideline throat slashes? Calls other team's fans ****ing hillbillies? And generally has does not give meaningful suspensions to top players when it sure seems like they should be warranted? Give me a break...

Anybody have a link to this "throat-slash" gesture? I've never seen it, was wondering why everyone commented on this

What has Cally done that makes you think he's so successful and that I'll think Hawkins was successful if at the same point? Maybe I'm missing what has been happening at NU. Are you referencing the B12 N crown? I don't think he's done anything else that would make me consider his time at NU to be a success. Sorry. Maybe this year is different and NU really takes off, but I'll wait and actually see how things play out.

Actually, I wouldnt consider him successful yet. I would say he has taken steps to success, but is not there yet. My point is CU fans ragging on him is a bit hypocritical.
Why?
Are there some CU fans out there who are proclaiming the Buffs have risen to the top of the conference? Are there some CU fans out there who would favor CU in a game against USC? Are you aware of some actions of Dan Hawkins which would in some way relate to Callahan? Did Hawkins make a throat slash gesture? Did Hawkins call fans of one of his biggest opponents "****ing hillbillies?" About the worst thing that can be said of Hawkins is that he is a bit goofy sometimes and he can go crazy on occasion re: his "Go play intramurals, brother" speech. I also don't remember Hawkins taking any light punishments on his players. Quite the opposite, in fact. the fact is -- Hawkins has been 110% class since he's been at CU.
What behavior of CU fans would you consider hypocritical, in relation to the way myopic Husker fans have acted about Callahan?

I would say its hypocritical to call someone a clown of a coach given the results he has had on the field versus their team.
If I am not mistaken, Solich was fired for the same "success" that Cally has barely matched... once.
3. Recruiting. Im not saying Frank was getting poor talent, but as soon as Cally was hired there was a buzz about the recruits they were pulling it. It was an upgrade. This helped to endure the growing pain years while he was getting his system installed with his players.
I read something recently that said that something like 60% of this years NU starters were Solich recruits. If the recruiting was so bad by FS, how does he have this many kids still in the starting line up four years later?
it was one of the Barfknecht articles, and Barf said it was 30% i think.
Callahan did invent the forward pass, though.
shoulda waited until the end of the season....but the polyester hordes busted too many nuts watching BIG RED run up and down the field on Nevada (Reno)...extend "Love me, I'm Bill". Jim Rose probably drained himself of semen.

Okay, 30% seems more accurate. Still, if all his guys were so crappy, you'd think they'd have weeded them out after 4 recruiting cycles
