I still am not a fan of having your all conference DB returning kickoffs. If he gets hurt we're screwed.

watch closely this Saturday and you will see how many team's "best athletes" are on kickoff coverage and returns.....
No way do we win that game with last years clock rules. I doubt we get the field goal at the end of the 1st half, and I doubt we get the field goal at the end of the 2nd half.
I hated the rule change last year, and I'm glad they've reverted back. Makes the college game that much more fun to watch.

I dont know that you can compare the 2. Sonny might have called plays differently and so would have Hawk. Just looking at the last 2 minutes of each half won't give you the actual picture.

And granted, maybe the coaches called plays differently, but I just remember so many games (not just CU games) where time just evaporated and there wasn't the usual time for comebacks.

I think if you add back the time that ran off during kick off returns that wouldn't have run if they didn't move kick offs to the 30 from the time that would have been lost starting the clock earlier, it's probably not that big a difference (you probably wasted a little more time starting the clock after a touch back, but I think its close, and then you have the clock running after punts so there would have been some time run last year that didn't this year). But, as a fan, I love it because the lost time from 2 years ago is time that game action is going on, not wasted seconds while teams are running onto the field.

Certainly, the coaching approach is a whole lot different. I'm just glad they, for once, used some common sense. I hated the clock rules last year. I've also been a huge proponent, well, not huge maybe, of kicking off from the 30. There are way too many kids that can bust the ball into and out of the end zone from the 35.

He isn't our only guy on the team that is good at returning. He is too valuable to lose. Who else do we have in the secondary thats as good as Wheat? Put Mcbride back there. What about Celestine? Point is that I don't think a coach who knows he's thin at that position should risk it. I don't remember Mike Vick returning punts for VT. And he was their "Best Athlete".:huh:
Anyway i really don't care about other teams. I care about my buffs!

They forget about the interferance call against us when both the guy wasn't touched and the ball was 20 yards over his head. The pricks. But you are right. The rammie game is an ancient memory. This train ain't got no rear view mirror, baby!

You and UBT aren't wrong. I am not trying to say that. I just don't like risking Wheatley out there. Yes i know he could get hurt playing CB. But on kick returns? I would be very pissed.
Wheatley, or any of our other players, could get hurt walking outside to get the newspaper (a la Brian Griese). Worrying about injuries to your star players would mean not putting them on the field at all. Kickoffs and punt returns can be game-changing plays, so you should always have your best and most-dangerous players doing said returns. The reward is MUCH greater than the risk.
I know he could get hurt on any play but what happens to our corners without wheat. It would be very very bad.
