get out and do some recruiting.. Not surprised we lost but man at the skill positions and the OL are just frickin awful.. They just can't compete with teams with talent.. We played hard so I have to give them that..

We have to give him time to recruit at those positions. I think we should give him an extension. call me crazy.

yes we need players, we play so hard but are so ****ing outmanned. It seems every team I watch has more talent than us. What the **** happened, we are a ****ing disgrace.

Barnett and his jackass coaches and their awful recruiting is what happened..

thats a little much. We are not a disgrace. We are a rebuilding program.

:yeahthat:

These guys are playing their hearts out. And they are playing with pride. They are improving, and did we really expect them to turn into a mnc team overnight?

you need to drop that. that chapter is over and closed. yea, we may still have a few of the players left but.....let it go. :smile2:

that's 4 of probably our top 8 guys in terms of athleticism. CU was outgunned and even if those guys had played, we'd have been outgunned. but, even being a big underdog against a clearly superior set of athletes, CU could have won this game had they executed.

things will get better-- it will just take more time. the year isn't lost.

If Smith is 3, he played on special teams tonight..

Don't forget Ryan Miller (redshirt). That big man would have helped the running game and the pass protection.

So we are officially redshirting Miller????

Just as long as the first string O-line stays healthy. Those hosses play about every down.

Should a knee blow out, Hawkens would pull Miller's redshirt. No point wasting his eligibility too soon.

depends on who were to go down and when...

ideally, all 5 frosh who are in the 2 deep on the ol will redshirt.

what a frustrating game tonight...

Between the Lisa Simpson thing hitting the papers this week, and the dropsies by the WR corps, I'm having some bad 2006 flashbacks. Coming out strong in the 1st Qtr and then wilting in the heat for the remaining 45 minutes of play was PAINFUL. Watching an impotent offense is frustrating at best. More like suicide watch if it weren't for having some weapons on the sideline (J-Fly - please may that liver heal up.) That was the LONGEST game, with all of the penalties and incompletes, the clock moved slower than Lammie's bowels after 2 pounds of cheddar.

If it weren't for all of the cheapshot penalties by Erickson's skilled but undisciplined thugs, CU would have been KO'd much earlier. Well, there goes C-Hawk's 60 game winning streak as a starter. Someone had to pop that cherry.

The image that is stuck in my head is of Jordan Dizon staggering off the field at the end of the 1st half. His veins were just screaming for his half-time IV. That pretty much was the point CU's will was broken. When riverboat gambler D-Hawk chose to take a knee with 13 seconds left in the half, instead of one more shot at the end-zone, the tide was irreversably turned.

Maybe it was the 100 degree heat, but there was nothing in the second half to get excited about. Except, perhaps, the catch by Riar Geer. That flagrant penalty against our return guy was inexcusable. 15 yards is so inadequate. Ejection from the game shouldn't have been out of the question. That hit, and other cheap shots was just rubbing salt in the wound. ASU did nothing to endear themselves this evening.

It was the right call to put Nelson under center with 11 minutes left in the 4Q. The Brian White-like rally I was hoping for didn't come to pass. With Nelson failing to give a spark that the offense so deperately needed, that nepotism thing about the coach's son won't be an issue.

To end on a good note, Scotty McKnight wins the heart of the Buffalo award. Thanks for catching the ball when it hit your hands.

Generally true. But those same recruits are the ones that are playing now for the most part, and they are giving their all for the team. Fault Barnett yeah but go easy on the kids they are trying.

Losing is frustrating, especially when our start positioned us to win.
We probably also worry about getting good recruits when we don't win games and look bad in losses.

The Buffs will be a terrific team again.
We're just going to end up taking some lumps along the way.

McKnight is sorely needed this year. We need J-FLy back, and Williams and Sprauge to actually catch a pass or two. Out of a pass or two. If they keep dropping TD's, they will get less and less plays as the year goes by. Celestine--now I expect a true freshman to make mistakes. Point is, he was by the defender and made a mistake, but is young and that can be corrected. Want to see Simas make strides and be in the mix next year. This came down to not having experienced WR's out catching the balls that Cody got there, and the OL not making holes for the RB's (once again, we were depending on Ellis:huh: and a RS freshman to carry us) and to give COdy time for passes. I read complaints of Cody throwing the ball to an area, but timing passes were what you have to do when you have two to three seconds to get rid of the ball. We needed Gates really, really bad this year I think.:sad1:

Sure, the Buffs were out-talented. Everybody knew that. We've known that for the past four or five years now. The Buffs need a talent upgrade across the board.

At the same time, I saw at least two touchdowns by the Buffs that went right through the receivers hands. Granted, ASU had plenty of mistakes too.

I was impressed with the Buffs mental focus. ASU is a team full of cheap shot thugs, just like their coach. It would have been very difficult for me to be a player out there. After our punt returners were repeatedly cheap-shotted by ASU's special teams - I would have made it a point to do the old "sweep the leg" on their QB. But the Buffs kept their poise and kept battling.

I agree, that should have been kick-catch interference, then personal foul. 30 yards, plus ejection.

A brawl could have easily broken out following any number of cheap shots. SEVEN personal fouls by the Devils?

At least CU won the battle of discipline, poise and class. That doesn't put CU in this morning's win column. But it does speak volumes about the character of the program, and that is one positive coming out of Tempe.

Programs that display unsporsmanlike conduct on the field can be prone to have problems off the field, too. As any CU fan knows too well, these things left unchecked have a way of blowing up.

If the NCAA took a page out of the NFL, we'd be hearing about fines being levied against some ASU players.

After the scholly loss CU suffered for meal-gate, the NCAA has a strange system of justice.

How many personal fouls have to occur befor a player or coach gets ejected from a game?

I don't think that would be a wise decision right now. He deserves 3 years minimum to turn things around, but he has to show improvement. Selling a losing program to recruits isn't an easy thing to do - he has to win some games.
