2017 WBB Recruit Profile Index

Going way out in the future, looks like the Buffs may have offered a 2018 recruit, 5'10" guard Bryce Nixon from Arcadia HS in Phoenix.

Her freshman stats per maxpreps- http://www.maxpreps.com/athlete/bry...VebEWg/gendersport/girls-basketball-stats.htm
(Obviously hard (at least for me) to analyze a player this young and guess her progression through high school, but seems pretty impressive to have been a pretty significant contributor as a freshman on a good team (Ranked #32 in Arizona by Maxpreps, 22-9 overall record):
Games Played- 31; Points Per Game- 11.5; Assists Per Game- 2.7; Rebounds Per Game- 3.5; Steals Per Game- 2.2, Blocks Per Game- 0.3 )

First info on new 2017 recruiting:

Growth spurt??? Prospects Nation lists her as 5'9" point guard. They have her ranked #99 in the 2017 class.

Thanks BeBe!

A few more links with info for Ms. Smith (All except prospectsnation have her at 6'.)-

http://www.wiseeyesports.com/emerging-star-2017-ca-guard-kianna-smith-visit-schedule-for-september/
From the last link above- looks like most west coast schools, and much of the Pac overall, are, at minimum, interested in her. Both old and new (while at Santa Clara) Buff staff listed as beng one of many schools visiting her last September. Coach's kid, as her dad is evidently the Assoc. Head Coach at CSU- Fullerton (men's team).

High school stats- http://www.maxpreps.com/athlete/kia...nzwbTA/gendersport/girls-basketball-stats.htm (If accurate, may have one of the higher 3 point shot averages (.46) I've seen for a high school player.)

Here is one I just found from back in 9/15. Mallory Vaughn, 6'4" 2017 Post from Collinsville High SchoolCollinsvilleOK received her 5th offer from U. of Colorado. She has since received more, including just this past week from Arizona (Coach Kelly , of course) and was visiting with former Buff commit, Annika Jank.

Couldn't find a 2018 WBB recruiting thread yet, so wanted to note a few WBB players who've evidently been offered in this thread so they can be in one place pending the 2018 thread's establishment. (the 1st 2 of these tweets are just pulled from an earlier thread when new Asst. Coach Jeff Cammon was hired, while the 3rd indicates Danielle Cosgrove was also offered.)

Note/ question to mods-
might be time for 2018 recruiting threads for both men's and women's bball?

Watching the video, again, of Cosgrove reaffirms my conviction that the coaching staff should be going all out to sign her. She really has some unique skills for a 6-4 player.

Welcome and congrats again to Ms. Jank!

From the same person, looks like we lost out to the wildcats for Mallory Vaughn.

Another 2018 offer, and another for an Arizona player, in HIGHLY RATED 6'1" Wing Caitlin Bickle from Cactus Shadows HS in Cave Creek, AZ.

ESPN Profile - http://espn.go.com/high-school/girls-basketball/recruiting/player/_/id/212434/caitlin-bickle (They have her as the #11 rated player in the country overall, and #2 rated Wing.)

Prospects Nation- https://prospectsnation.com/player/caitlin-bickle

High school stats - http://www.maxpreps.com/athlete/cai...VebEWg/gendersport/girls-basketball-stats.htm

Highlights videos (The only ones I could find- probably shouldn't be viewed very critically, since they're ~2 years old)-

And, another 2018 offer to a highly rated wing, this time 6'0" Mckenzie Forbes from Folsom HS in Folsom CA.

ESPN- http://espn.go.com/high-school/girls-basketball/recruiting/player/_/id/215811/mckenzie-forbes (Have her as the #20 recruit nationally for her class overall, and #3 wing.)

Prospects Nation - https://prospectsnation.com/player/mckenzie-forbes (They have her rated as the #27 recruit nationally.)

Per a Cal Bear forum (http://bearinsider.com/forums/showt...Kenzie-Forbes-6-0-quot-W-(Folsom-CA)-visiting) , sounds liike she AT MINIMUM holds Cal and UCLA offers. Looking back at the AZ Select twitter, looks like there have also been offers from Kansas, Tennessee and Oregon over the last 4 months or so. Youtube shows a Cal State Fullerton offer.

Older (December 2014?) highlight video-

Wow - Aaron looks to be a very talented player. Found some YouTube highlights from her freshman season and she sure didn't look like a freshman. Hope the staff can close on some of the talent they've targeted for the class of '17.

Aaron is currently ranked as #46 in the class of 2017 players. Almost the entirePAC-12 is after her. I'd love to see CU win this recruiting battle. Go CU coaches!!!

She is being followed on twitter by Jonas Chatterton, our Coach Lee, Kelly Rae Finley and Lin Dunn among others.

Just wanted to mention that, per an article*** that was mainly about 2016 freshman Quinessa Caylao-Do, there is a notes section at the bottom that said "CU has two open scholarships, but Payne said the Buffs will save them for next year.".

So, with 4 seniors, looks like there should be at minimum 6 scholarships available for the 2017/ 18 class, with (I believe?) Annika Jank being the only verbal commit so far for that year.

( ***http://www.buffzone.com/ci_30195162/cu-womens-basketball-motivated-quinessa-caylao-do-eager ; I also included the article link in her thread)

I saw that. If you don't see a player you like and who you think can truly contribute, do not offer them a scholarship. Saw some players during Ceal's tenure who were not DI players. Ended up staying 4 years and not really contributing to the team in games.

Of course coaches can't discuss recruits that haven't signed, but they can give some generalizations, so here are a few things I picked up at the meet-and-greet:

• "Biggest" need right now is post players. But they want post players that can run the floor as they want up-tempo. Ideally these players would be 6-4 - 6-5. In the short run they may need to go with shorter players in the post to satisfy the need for pace.
• They could sign more than four in November, but I got the impression they most likely won't. As another poster stated, they won't "settle." JR used that term as well.
• Currently they have about 15 players they are recruiting (I assume that means for the class of '17), but they are playing catch-up as these players have been recruited for over a year. At this point it is a matter of building relationships and getting official visits.
• Their top recruit is also a very good volleyball player and will make her official visit during a weekend when the volleyball team is playing at home in September.
• JR promises buffgal she will recruit Iowa - seriously.

Okay Bebe, you're up again.

• JR promises buffgal she will recruit Iowa - seriously.

Did she really say that or are just kidding me? There are good players in Iowa that end up at some top DI schools. There is one at Oklahoma now. Of course, Iowa does a pretty good job of grabbing them. Kiah Stokes played at UConn and a player from the high school I attended, Markisha Wright, attended Notre Dame and then was a grad assistant at Drake last year.

Did she really say that or are just kidding me?
Yes, as Bebe is my witness :). JR has seen the girls state tourney there - I had told her I saw Linda Lappe play in it her senior season. We were talking about the culture around the state tourney and how amazing it is. She knows who you are and stated CU would absolutely be recruiting in Iowa.

Because I my grandparents were born and raised in Iowa I have an allegiance to the state and was very excited to have both Shelly and Linda play in Boulder and make major impacts. So I too am hoping that we'll see more Iowans in Boulder soon.

Don't believe there's a thread yet for 2019, so figured I'd post here that per her tweet below looks like the Buffs have offered class of 2019 5'10" point guard Anaya Peoples from the Schlarman Academy in Danville IL.

(Note to mods- may want to add threads for 2018 and 2019 classes?)

Prospects Nation- https://prospectsnation.com/player/anaya-peoples (4-1/2 stars, they currently rate her the #3 player in the 2019 class (https://prospectsnation.com/players/all/2019).)

Highlight video from earlier this year-

Article from January that makes it sound like she's already being heavily recruited, with 13 offers for the 15 year old- http://www.illinoishomepage.net/sports/local-sports/no-ordinary-freshman

As Jackvcr said, we have exchanged emails when he introduced us. I did tell her that my mother played basketball. This winter, there was a column in the small town newspaper where she grew up in the 75 years ago this week section where she had led her team in scoring to beat their big rival. The Iowa Girls State Basketball Tournament is like no other. I was fortunate enough to Lappe play in two state tournaments and to be present when Shelley Sheetz was inducted to the Iowa Girls Basketball Hall of Fame.

I attended several state tournaments in Colorado after they started playing the two large school classifications in Boulder. Not like the tourney in Iowa at all.

Didn't realize you had Iowa ties, Mark.
