Blackout has been designated for the UCLA game (ESPN2, Thursday night 7:30pm).

The ASU game for homecoming could get on a real network though so that's good.

Interested to see if that ASU offense falters in the late moments of the game being at altitude and taking that many snaps.

Our offense versus their defense...
15 Colorado 328 plays 2093 total yards. gaining 6.38 yards per play. Scored 21TDs. gained 523.3 yards per game.
120 Arizona St. 302 plays 1996 total yards. allowing 6.61 yards per play. allowed 18TDs. gave up 499.0 yards per game

Our offense should eat them alive. Need our defense to come to play though. I don't know if I like our odds in a true shoot out yet.

From what I have seen, they are very potent on offense. Can score in a variety of ways. Will be a huge test for the defense. Their defense is turrible, though.

Going to need a strong game plan from JL to slow down the ASU offense, especially against the run, where they seem to be pretty good and we seem to struggle with relative to other areas.

Colorado Defensive Ranks:
36th - 1226 total yards allowed
18th - 307 yds/game
17th - 161.5 pass yds/game
55th - 145.0 rush yds/game
54th - 24.3 pts/game

Arizona State Offensive Ranks:
13th - Total Offense
19th - 508 yards/game
41st - 271 pass yards/game
26th - 236 rush yards/game
7th - 48 points/game

I would offer that their rushing stats are slight skewed due to what Ballage did to Texas Tech. Takes away nothing though from the importance of not letting him do it us as well. Should be a good game. I feel a lot better about getting them at home. Need to utillize the altitude in this one.

I would say that ASU has a slightly better offense and a much worse defense. Throw in home field advantage and I think Colorado should win.

Could come down to how many turnovers the defense can force to try and slow them down.

Obviously, one monster game can still skew stats this early on, but 4 games is a reasonable sample size to start looking at statistical matchups. The reason I'm not overly concerned about the rush defense is because what's killed us has been the edge stuff against Michigan and Oregon and I think that can be schemed against moreso than getting pushed around inside and opponents having most of their rushing success between the tackles. I think we see a similar game plan against ASU to the one we saw against Oregon with 5 DBs on the field with Moeller playing in the box more.

I live in Phoenix. Their offense is overrated.

They struggled well into the second half against NAU (Division 2), and since then have played Texas Tech, UTSA, and Cal. Those three teams rank 100, 108, and 126th in total defense in the nation at the moment, AND ASU got two of those games at home. Also, they only had 10 points against Cal at half and scored 14 late points on Pick 6's.

Don't get me wrong, their offense isn't bad, but it's nothing special. For some reason teams have not yet figured out you have to stop the running game with Ballage and Richard and force Wilkins to beat you by throwing it 45 times. This is probably because the defenses they have played are so bad they simply can't do anything about it.

Assuming Buffs are relatively healthy I don't see anyway we don't score at least 42 on them (probably more). And I would be very surprised to see ASU score more than 30 if we aren't letting their D or special teams set them up for scores.

their fans are real dicks
I still argue they have the worst fans ever. Even having been to ****braska when we won (they are ****ty when they lose) and being to U$C (they are ****ty when they win). ASU takes the cake in douchebags per capita

This. Really trying to get up to Boulder for this one if it's a 3:30 MT start or later. Hopefully a win by both programs this weekend will have a bigger network pick it up for a late afternoon slot.
There is no 3:30 pm MDT slot for TV.

The following slots are available:
12:00 MDT (Pac-12 Network)
1:30 MDT (ABC)
6:30 MDT (Fox Network)

Yup. This is where the game is really gonna be played.

Our D v Their Offense....
18 Colorado 268 plays 1226 total yards. allowed 4.57 yards per play. allowed 11 TDs. allowed 306.5 yards per game
19 Arizona St. 322 plays 2031 total yards. gaining 6.31 yards per play. scored 21 TDs. gaining 507.8 yards per game

By comparison this is where our two previously most challenging opponents are currently ranked
12 Oregon 291 plays (avg 72.8pg, v CU 78) 2144 total yards. gaining 7.37 yards pp (v CU 6.5yds). scored 23 TDs gaining 536.0 yards per game (v CU 508yds).
40 Michigan 296 plays (avg 75pg, v CU 71) 1871 total yards. gaining 6.32 yards pp (vCU 5.6yds). scored 24 TDs. gaining 467.8 yards per game (v CU 397yds)

Thanks. So seeing as how I doubt ABC is picking it up, it should probably be a Noon kickoff or evening?

Our defensive stats aren't bad given we played road games at Michigan and at Oregon....
Our defensive stats are hurt by the pace we've been running at on offense. Pretty much no team that runs this fast puts up good defensive stats. Too many quick possessions; too little time to rest.
