Gotta Like RG..He Gets it

Always BUFF

I post stupid ****
If RG looked me in the eye and asked for some coin I'd give it long before I'd given the Bohn(er) a cent.
If and when the Rise becomes reality it starts with the AD...as it did with Crowder. The last few years I figured I'd be pushing up daisies before the BUFFS could begin to sniff a conference championship...I may see it before then.
GO BUFFS

**** you.

Yes, I think RG is great and a wonderful hire. Bohn was also great for CU! He hired MM. Hawkins was a great get, but did not pan out. Embree was the only really bad hire, but I hear there was pressure to hire him. Look at Bohn's hire of Boyle and the huge success of BBall. And Bohn's greatest legacy is getting into the Pac-12. Under Bohn we won the first Pac-12 BBall conference championship, so "Always BUFF", there's a championship. And I may have my timeline wrong, but under Bohn we won the Big12 North in football. So yes, **** you Always BUFF. ... Your name does not agree with your lack of support and understanding.

Bohn is a very convenient scapegoat. Not perfect by any means, but he left the department in a lot better shape than he found it.

Can we agree that we are in a very good place with RG without the need to crucify Bohn at the same time?

Bohn;
replaced Patton, Barnett, and Barry from coaching
Replaced Hempen with Sanchez.
Hired Bzdelik then Hired Boyle
Replaced Barry with McConnell Miller then Lappe.
Hired and fired Hawkins
Hired and fired Embree
Hired MacIntyre.
Left the BigXII for the Pac12

He wasn't exactly worthless.

It's telling that RG and Bohn never asked you....
They can't find you in Mom's basement?

What? Bohn took over a Big-12 north champion and was fired after a 1-12 season which was the worst in CU history. In what world is that leaving it in better shape than he found it?

Bohn split the donor base, alienated season ticket holders with his ticket giveaways and couldn't get facilities off the ground. Yeah he didn't have help from the admin but that doesn't mean he wasn't a "****ty AD" to quote Bruce Feldman.

I agree with you. Don't hold any resentment against Bohn.

Bohn's biggest problem was the worthless mouthbreather in the chancellors office.

Dr. Phil was giving the orders and Bohn was hired with that understanding. Bohn wanted to fire Hawkins at the end of the prior year but Dr. Phil stopped him. Bohn was stuck hiring Embree because Dr. Phil hamstrung him in terms of the budget. Our ridiculous one off scheduling with Ohio State and Michigan was due to the budget mandates put on Bohn.

I am happier to have RG in the office but Bohn wasn't as bad as the guy above him made him look.

Dr Phil took over a financially devastated Boulder AthD at a time when the CU System's emphasis and full focus was fixed firmly on the new Med Center/Campus and the flagship sport was reeling under the totally-failed leadership of Hoffman, Byyny and Dickie Tharp. He needed very strict budget constraints on the AD to get things under control.
If Bohn gets credit for Boyle, let's give Dr Phil some credit for Rick George.

The only reason the AD was in financial problems was due to the failure of the administration (Dr. Phil at the helm) to adequately support it and allow it to succeed. Phil was a part of the Hoffman team and his unwillingness to support athletics was a long term issue. He didn't change his tune until Benson finally stepped in and told him to, instead of him fighting for it from the start.

This can't be said enough.

Look, I'm willing to forgive DiStefanos idiocy. He and Benson finally figured it out.

Phil just needs to keep supporting athletics and keep his mouth shut around nosy reporters.

Bohn is a glad hander. RG is a doer. Both have their place, I suppose. But I suspect the big donors prefer the "doers."

Newb UBL, gotta love it.

My favorite talking point is still that Hawkins was a good "get". I love that one.

Well, there were a lot of people around the country at the time who thought that.

But, I also remember a smaller contingent of people who were saying that the brains of the operation were staying in Boise, which, judging from Petersen's success as opposed to Hawkins' "success", was pretty much spot on.

I believe that Bohn also built the large basketball support facility. A precursor to the football support facility.
Bohn didn't do everything right, but did A LOT right. And I also felt like he was in a very constrained environment. He got CU through those times reasonably well and paved way for George to work in a much less constrained environment.

Check the timeline, Byyny was in charge. Dr Phil was his successor. Look, I don't like Dr Phil very much myself (He came from the worthless School of Ed), but he came in after Byyny sh*t in everyone's mess kit and Byyny allowed GB to sh*t in his own during the non-scandal! Dr Phil was always chasing after messes caused by Byyny and Tharp, as well.

Byyny was a puppet for Bitsy.

If you looked hard enough, you could see her arm sticking out of his ass while she was making his mouth move.

Probably my age + one too many beers when I posted...the intent of the op was that it is more than coincidence that RG has had a heavy hand in the Rise. Bohn did some good things, followed through on Bizdelik's request for a new practice facility among others.
When RG took over he embraced the situation and to some of us it was damn near impossible from a financial standpoint.

We lost two full years of conference revenue when we switched to the PAC 12. The BigXII contractually refused to pay us for our last year in conference. The pac12 didn't pay us anything un the end of the 1st year in conference.

CU likely used loans from the general to pay for charter flights for football and basketball all season as well as salaries. Hence things like the Ohio state game were done to make money.
