so, i've watched ou play quite a bit this season on tv. they are pretty much the best team the Buffs will have played since ut in the 70-3 game.
they look virtually unbeatable to me, but anyone can beat anyone in one game, so here's a scenario for how i think it would have to happen...
first, CU has to get to the quarterback. as good as that guy has looked, he has made some mistake and gotten rattled on the very few occasions when teams have been able to get pressure on him. tulsa actually hung with them, briefly, by trying to be very aggressive with the ou qb. the ou ol is huge, but i think our interior dl can hold up ok... i'd feel better if we had more big bodies to rotate inside. perri doesn't have the size to man them up... but, nicholas and hypo, if they don't wear down, should be ok. we need to use speed and deception to get to the qb. bull rushes probably won't get it down. and, if we are selling out like this to get to the qb, obviously, we need the rest of the d to play lights out great. the potential is there. our d is undersized and we don't have enough speed or depth overall, but we have a few playmakers on d and we just need everyone else to do their jobs.
second, CU must strike early and deep. we have to get all that defensive speed off the line of scrimmage. that means we need to get a guy behind the defense early and make a play down the field. if they have to respect the deep strike, they will have to play more honestly in the box and it will open up some running lanes.
third, CU cannot turn the ball over. period. we need mistake free ball. cody will need to play his best game.
fourth, our Buffs need to shock them in some way... either an electric special teams td or an int for a td or a trick td play... get them on their heels. they aren't expecting CU to make a game of it. time to jump on them and get them off balance.
fifth, our guys have to go hard for 4 quarters. we don't have the depth to match them. we need all of our guys to sell out hard for this win and never lay off. in the beginning of the asu game, our Buffs were out-toughing them and then it all broke down. it can't break down this week.
do these things and CU will shock the world on saturday.
GO BUFFS!
