CHA-CHING!!!!

Winning this game makes the rest of the season nearly sure things to be 50k+ crowds. Having Bzdelik present the game ball and putting the basketball team on the sidelines was a smart move, too. While I probably won't go to any b-ball games because I really don't care for the game itself, I do want to see them do well.

We are very fortunate to have good people in all the right places right now. I'm glad Bohn's patience and foresight are starting to pay off.

Dan Hawkins was a bold hire and I'm glad he didn't please some of the alums and ex-players who clamored for a "Buff" guy like Embree and just went with his gut..

I liked Embree and EB but they just weren't ready. Both were never coordinators at any point in their careers. That doesn't mean they won't be great coaches in the future. It was just waaayyy to early to really consider them for any HC job. I know Embree is coaching with the Chiefs and EB is a RB's coach for the Vikes.
I remember everyone bitching about how we made a mistake. Saying we should have gone after some 'big name' coaches(Butch Davis, Mariucci). Remember the last 'big name coach we hired back in 78 or 79? Didn't go so well did it?

Neither Embree nor Bienemy are coordinators now.

I know. But the NFL is a big step for them. I think they'll stay there for a couple of years and then return to the college ranks and be coordinators.

Maybe so. If that's true, they're still quite a few years removed from being ready for head coaching jobs.

I think the "experiment" with elevating skippy to HC from a position coach made it difficult for guys like Embree and Bienemy to move up quickly. I could see Embree becoming the HC at a small college and stepping stone his way into a HC job at a bigger school. EB may be too good of a RB coach to ever get a shot as a coordinator, which is a shame.

Hawkin X 2 was a great move - "thinking out of the box" for both parties. If Hawk can survive the Boulder PC police - which I think he can - he will do well in Boulder; in 1-2 years we will be asking - "will he leave when Cody graduates" I will enjoy it while it lasts.

I am not a basketball fan - still pissed we lost baseball
