Who's in bigger trouble, Callahan, Weiss, or Fran?

All three have huge buyouts if they get fired. All three are having big trouble on the field, and in some cases, off of it too.

I'd say Fran has the best chance to be ****-canned, although his team is 5-1 right now and is in the lead in the B12 South.

Weiss is pretty safe, IMO. Although ND did fire Winningham after his third year which was undoubtedly better than what this year will look like for Chuckie. Plus, his buyout would probably make even the folks at Catholic U blink.

Fran the profiteering man!
How come I never come up with the great ideas??
He better get them to the CCG if he is going to save his job.

i think fran may save his job. the south isn't looking that fierce and he's pulled out some last minute wins this year that could make a difference. is it impossible to believe atm might win the south?

weiss is in trouble. he's apparently alienated a ton of boosters and former players. but, the buyout is supposed to be quite large. rumor i heard is they are looking to see if enough of their big money boosters will play to whack him.

the biggest trouble? clown-a-han, i think. his act has worn thin. he also pissed off all the power bases in fuskerland. if he wins the north, i think he'll save his job, absent a blowout in the ccg. otherwise, i bet he is toast-- buyout or otherwise... and, i think pedey is a goner too.

Yes.:smile2:

Tech owns Fran. Oklahoma owns Fran. Texas owns Fran. He'll lose to at least two of those three teams.

He's gone.

If anyone gets the boot it will be Coz. The other three are in lala land. I don't see Cally setting sail just yet. However, if he tanks the rest of the year (loses to us, MU, and either KU or KSU) the story will probably change.

But if he wins then he saves his job.

Weiss seems to be okay given the size of the contract. I think he wins some games late.

Fran is in trouble because of the newsletter deal, but if he wins the B12 South and beats UT and/or OU, the faggies will figure out a way to keep him around. I could see A&M winning four of their last six and finishing 9-3. That's a decent record that would get them a pretty good bowl. Gundy might have saved Fran's job by going for the block. :wow:

Weiss won a game he probably shouldn't of yesterday. damnit. I think the buyout is way too rich, even for the domers. He's safe.

Cally's job is only safe if they win the B12 North and don't look like dog**** in their bowl game. As it sits right now, that's looking very unlikely.

So, I could have said this in the original post, but I'd say the most likely to be gone by the end of this calendar year is Fran, followed VERY closely by Cally. Weiss is safe - for now. Another year of this kind of **** will get his ass canned.

who says ****braska goes to a bowl game ?
stranger things happen-

May not be safe even if he wins. That newsletter flap is not good.

atm isn't afraid of cheating.

they have a long illustrious history of rule-breaking. if they think they can gloss over the newsletter thing, they will-- it all depends on whether frannie is winning or not.

jackie sherrill coached there for chrissakes. he was one of the dirtiest of all time.

That's very true. I just don't think Aggy is very good and they'll lose at least three more games. I think Fran is toast, but stranger things have happened.

What's funny is that Aggy fans like to talk about how everyone else cheats, but gloss over the fact that they were cheating when they had their last real sustained success.

I said his job is only safe if he wins the B12 North and doesn't look like dog **** in the bowl game. If the corn win the B12 North, they'll be in a bowl game. But there's truth to what you say, there's no guarantee that the corn will even be in a bowl game this year. With tough games left against Texas, OSU, A&M, KU, KSU and CU, there's a very real possibility that they could lose every single one of those games. I don't think they will, but they could. The cupcakes on their schedule are gone. They're 4-2 and only need two more wins to be bowl eligible, so go 2-4 in your last 6 games and you're in. A 6-6 season and a trip to the weedwacker bowl won't make the folks in stincoln very happy, though.

BTW, here's the remaining schedule for Aggy:

Sat., Oct 13 @Texas Tech
Sat., Oct 20 @Nebraska
Sat., Oct 27 Kansas
Sat., Nov 3 @Oklahoma
Sat., Nov 10 @Missouri
Fri., Nov 23 Texas

Pretty freaking tough.

They should be happy with going 3-3 in those games. Of course, that would mean an 8-5 record, which isn't terrible. But Tech always gives A&M fits, *ebraska on the road is probably the easiest game left on their schedule.

Disagree.

BINGO!!!! You hit the nail on the head. There is no way in hell that Pedey is going to fire Callahan unless his job is on the line as well. With both of them just receiving contract extensions there is almost NO way that either one of those bastards are going to be leaving anytime soon. Coz must go and go now! If we could get rid of Cally I think alot of us want a coach who can bring some of the tradition back to the school. Right now Nebraska means **** as far as traditions go. :sad2:

Fran is a goner, unless he wins the whole Big 12 enchilada (I don't think winning the south is enough). He's not a Bill Byrne hire, so look for him to use this opportunity to bring in his own guy. The VIP email may allow him to fire him without the buy out (bonus for him). He's been very muted in his support of Fran ("I don't talk about coaches during the year...we'll address this after the season...yada, yada, yada"). Look for a young upstart coach, with ties in state (Art Briles at Houston for example), although bigger names like Mike Sherman and Bob Davies are out there as well.

As for Clownahan, he and Pedey are joined at the hip. He's not going anywhere until the AD is shown the door. They both have 5(?) years left on contract extensions. Dude can recruit, but hasn't shown any ability to teach his team the X's and O's, and what's much worse, to get his team to play with heart. Enjoy the next 5 years, or pony up a lot of buy out cash, Fusker fan!

depending on how the season plays out, 6 wins does not mean a bowl game. werent there 6-6 teams last that sat at home in December?

Yea but :rip: cornholio :rip: won't be one of the due to past reputation. Plus since they are in Lincoln their fans have a great desire to get out and thus travel fairly well.:smile2:

when you ask *ebraskans what's the best thing to come out of their state... the overwhelming reply is I-80...:smile2:

and come to think of it, most non-*ebraskans too....

Count me as not one of them. Problem is that when they take I-80 they seem to forget to take it back. I-81 maybe since it doesn't lead to Colorado.

uhhh... i80 doesnt go to Colorado, runs basically east and west from wyoming to iowa.. i76 does go to denver off of i80....:smile2:

If somehow we can manage to win a few more games the best bowl we could possibly go to is probably the Alamo Bowl. That's only due to our past history there with our fans traveling well. I see us only winning the OSU game and losing the rest. No bowl this season. Sadly that's the only way anything will probably get done anyways. I'm not hoping for losses, but the truth is the truth and that's the only way things will get done.

also you need to remember that the Big XII only has ties to 8 bowls I believe. a 6-6 team in the Big XII could very well be 9th-10th overall in the conference.

While true, *ebraska still has the name recognition that would engender a bowl invite for a 6-6 fusker team. If, for instance, both NU and Baylor are at 6-6, and only one bowl spot is available, then the spot goes to the fuskers.
