Collins flat-out got outcoached

Buffarino

Math - how does it work?

Damn, what a frustrating game. What pissed me off the most was how Collins let KU dictate his defense to him in the second half. Buffs D played stout in the first half, so what does KU do in the second half? They come out with 3 and 4 WRs and get Collins to do exactly what they want him to do - ditch the base defense for a nickel/dime scheme. And instead of a 4-2-5, he went with a 3-3-5 or 3-2-6 for most of the second half. And surprise, surprise, running lanes were open in the second half. And CU got no pressure on Reesing in the second half.

Ahhhh! Getting physically beat up is one thing, but getting outcoached flat-out sucks.

Collins seems to have a little AJ Christof in him. not so much in style, but either the game plan is great, or you spend a lot of the game scratching your head.

CU doesn't have any pass rushers on the end.. Tough to get pressure on Reesing when we can't rush the passer unless we blitz..

Buffs don't have much depth in the front seven.. There aren't going to be stout the whole game..

The defense held Kansas to 19 points.. With the exception of the 53 yard run in the 1st half and the 3rd down conversion they allowed Reesing convert on the run, I thought they played well enough to win the ball game.. Quit knocking Collins' coaching.. His unit wasn't the problem today..

I agree with Jimmy (did I just say that?)....we played well enough to win this game.

We should have been able to win that game. We made costly mistakes at bad times (costly fumble deep in KU territory, multiple dropped passes by the same receiver on 3rd downs, the missed open field tackle by the linebacker who fell for the pump fake on the long Reesing run, etc.), but still were in a position to be able to win the game.

While I was disappointed in many aspects of the game, I still believe in the team and the coaching.

I do have to give Kansas credit - they were a well coached team today.

Welcome to 2007. More college football teams now run the spread offense for this reason than ever before.

Take away the 50+ yard QB scramble, and the scramble for a first down in the 3rd and its a different ball game. I do agree that it seemed like the KU offense was a step ahead for the 2nd half. That said if our receivers catch the ****ing the ball :bang: I think CU wins.
