so, to make the conf. champ game,

we need CU to win out and the teams in my post below to lose. CU has mizzery, at isu, and the fuskers.

it isn't impossible... just difficult!

GO BUFFS!

KSU would just need to lose one more, that'd give them 3 conf losses.

Not sure of the Big XII tie breaker rules, but we could win also if KU only loses 2 games, one of which to Mizzery and Mizzery wins all of their remaining games except next week vs us, that'd put us all 6-2 in the conference.

Well, lets put it this way, if we were counting on Iowa State to not choke in this situation, you could at least be sure they would. As for everything else LOL, well, never say never.

I'll be stoked to finish with the 7-5 record. Hell, an 8-4 record and a Holiday bowl apperance is still very much a possibility if things play out well.

i think you are right about ksu...

on the tiebreaker, the first thing is head to head. so, if mizzery, ku, and CU finish tied, then it would mean that mizzery beat ku, ku beat us, and we beat mizzery. hmmm... so then they probably go division record... :confused:

Personally, I don't want the Buffs to win the North this year. One run in with the 2007 Sooners is enough for me.

Next year? Absolutely, hell... we could take the whole conference, but as for now I'd just assume we have a solid finish to our regular season and a good showing in a bowl game. Nothing more, nothing less.

i have confused myself. damn THAT bourbon all day!

let's lay it out...

CU is 5-4 (3-2 in conference, with losses to ku and kjuco state).

--CU has mizzery, at isu, and the fuskers left.

ku is 7-0 (3-0 in conference).

--ku has at atm, fuskers, at osu, isu, and mizzery left.

kjuco state is 5-3 (3-2 in conference, with losses to ku and osu).

--kjuco state has at isu, at fuskers, mizzery, and at fresno state).

mizzery is 7-1 (3-1 in conference, with a loss to ou).

--mizzery has at CU, atm, at ksu, and at ku left.

ok, if CU wins out, they will be 8-4 (6-2).

we need ku to lose 3 of their last 5 to knock them out.
we need ksu to lose 1 of their last 3 conf. games to knock them out.
we need mizzery just to lose to us.

this is looking do-able from here in the kool-aid stand!

:thumbsup:

I'm not saying they aren't pretty good, I just don't think they'll beat Mizzou. Then again, they may not have to if they win their other games and we knock off Mizzou for them. :thumbsup:

Its not going to happen so I wouldn't worry about it.. IF the Buffs were good enough to be Big 12 North champs they would have beaten Kansas last week at home.. Enjoy the season.. Its been a huge improvement over next year and we'll be STRONG contenders for the North title and Big 12 title next year..

I agree the North is KU's to lose. I don't necessarily think they are better than Mizzou, but they have a much easier remaining schedule and no losses. I think KU will run the table up to the MU game, and Mizzou will drop one between here and there.

if CU can win their remaining 3 games and end up 8-4
I expect an Alamo Bowl bid and a date against a Penn St or Illinois type team.
Not bad after last years 2-10 mess.

8-4 would be mighty impressive for this team, plus with the schedule we have played.. I'll take the Alamo Bowl, although they probably will take an Okie State over us..

Just thought of it but Kansas and OU could both get BCS bids.. Its a long shot but if it happens everyone will move up one spot..

That's correct, first head to head record, then division record. Then it starts to get weird.

The following procedure will determine the representative from each division in the event of a tie:

(a) If two teams are tied, the winner of the game between the two tied teams shall be the representative;

(b) If three or more teams are tied, steps 1 through 7 will be followed until a determination is made. If only two teams remain tied after any step, the winner of the game between the two tied teams shall be the representative.

1. The records of the three teams will be compared against each other;
2. The records of the three teams will be compared within their division;
3. The records of the three teams will be compared against the next highest placed teams in their division in order of finish - 4, 5 and 6;
4. The records of the three teams will be compared against all common conference opponents;
5. The highest ranked team in the first Bowl Championship Series Poll following the completion of Big 12 regular-season (intra-) conference play shall be the representative;
6. The team with the best overall winning percentage [excluding exempted games - e.g. 12th games such as Kickoff Classic, Pigskin Classic, Hawaii, etc.] shall be the representative;
7. The representative will be chosen by draw.

That's actually not that far fetched. KU would have to win the B12 CG, with OU winning the south and having a top 10 ranking at 11-2. If that happens, KU might actually be in the BCS championship, which is mind boggling right now. :wow:
