But why do we have to empty the seats....I mean seriously, if Scott and some other big time recruits are in town, how is this going to make an impression.

I'm a die hard, I don't care if we are losing 76-39, I'm staying till the last second.

This pisses me off. I don't care if we are losing, I'm more upset about the stadium being empty.

this isn't just a CU thing. Most football fans don't stay through games like this anymore. Look at what happened at the NU game last week.

Me if I payed money to see game, then I am going to see the whole damn thing. End of story.

Hell I am still watching this crap on TV.

i used to watch it all but now i can't...i think it started during the Texas thumpings

If Darrell Scott wants to come to CU, he'll come.. It will have nothing to do with what the fans do in the stands, etc, etc..

I would have stayed longer, but I was freezing my ass off. BECAUSE I DIDN'T HAVE MY HOODIE!

hmm, play in front of 100,000 or in front of 40,000 getting their ass beat, I kept thinking about what the **** do you say to your recruits as your getting stomped on

Mostly, "hey kid, we need you, and we need you on the field next year!"

You talk about immediate playing time, that if they commit their contribution can stem the tide of losse and or that they will see the field quickly. It's called spin, sales, whatever you want to call it.

Most of these kids want to get to the NFL and, in the case of the 4*+, they are going to go with the team that is mostly likely to get them there. They lesser players also reach for these dreams but I also believe they want the free education.

I can only speak for myself.
I rarely leave early if you don't count leaving with 3 minutes to go in a game that is well in hand for CU.
Tonight my little kid had lost complete interest even in the second half and was begging for dipping dots.
I looked at my watch at the end of the third quarter and it said that yes, the game has been going on for THREE hours. I actually had some things to do tonight and some stores to get to before they close. So, away I want.
I'll be back, don't worry.
Go Buffs

**** all of that. CU didn't come to play. I paid money for my seats. When I had it, I left.

Tough **** if somebody doesn't like it. The Buffs play for the fans, not vice versa.

Funny how you show up whenever we lose. Who is to blame this time. The coach? or how about your favorite target-Mike Bohn. This isn't professional football. Those kids play for their coaches and their teamates. Tonight proved that. After the entire ****ing stadium emptied out before the 3rd quarter. One question. If the Buffs play only for the fans, does that mean they stopped playing after all of you guys left? Get off your high horse. "oh, I paid money for my seats" **** off dude. Go drink your ****ing lemon juice and tell yourself your better than everyone else. ****ing douchebag.

I would argue that the good players make it to the NFL via the draft regardless of where they play, so long as they get the opportunity to play.

So if a recruit's primary objective is to get to the NFL, I honestly believe he is better off going to a college where he will be guaranteed the opportunity to display his abilities. With that said, those are not the type of kids we want to recruit. We want kids that WANT to go to college, compete and win. It's fine and dandy to be able to sell playing time, but hopefully that will not be the case in a couple of years.

Here's a list of highly drafted RBs in recent years that attended "lesser" programs:

LaDanian Tomlinson - TCU
DeAngelo Williams - Memphis
Marshawn Lynch - Cal
Chris Henry - Arizona
Brian Leonard - Rutgers
Garrett Wolfe - Northern Illinois
Michael Bush - Louisville
Lawrence Maroney - Minnesota
Jerious Norwood - Mississippi State
J.J. Arrington - Cal
Micheal Shelton - Louisville
Vernand Morency - OSU
Ryan Moats - Louisiana Tech
Marion Barber - Minnesota
Brandon Jacobs - Southern Illinois
Stephen Jackson - Oregon St
Tatum Bell - OSU
Mewelde Moore - Tulane

Then you have players like Willie Parker and Selvin Young that can clearly play in the NFL but they didn't get drafted because they were buried on their college team's depth chart.

I don't have any data to support this, but I would be willing to bet that a greater ratio of 4-5 star recruits that attend top 10 programs do not do as well in the NFL draft or go undrafted.

Again, I wouldn't make this argument if I'm a recruiter for Colorado. I'm just saying that I think your premise that a top-tier program provides better professional opportunities for their athletes is flawed. The best of all worlds is an institution where you will have the opportunity to play, be able to compete with the best teams in the country, and be surrounded by a good coaching staff that will prepare you to play at the next level.

As soon as someone pays for my seat, they can tell me how long to stay. You do what you want and I'll do the same.

well, what do you think we should tell them? "oops. we give up?" :wow: are you serious?

how about one of these responses?

neither of these responses is that difficult to come up with, are they?

For what it is worth - CU is showing interest in the top Boise players - every time they are talked about in the paper - they make a reference to "CU is interested" there is a great Q up here named AJ Storms that is considering CU.

With that said the sheer number of players up here is limted as this is a small metro area

I admit, we left midway through the fourth. But it was COLD! I'm a pussy boy. And my kid was freezing in his little CU teeshirt. Plus, I just HATE seeing the enemy celebrate on our field. SO SHOOT ME! :smile2:

At least you stayed till the fourth. I was pretty embarrassed seeing all our fans pile out at the half.

as for recruiting, we are still solidly in the lead for a four star that was visiting yesterday. he sees that he can play with his uncle, and that e could possibly start right away.

no, the sky is not falling, but thanks for your concern.

Ladyblaise, I think I'm starting to enjoy your distinctive brand of homerism.

:gobuffs: which part? the part where i am disturbingly pleased to kick anyone in the nuts who does not demonstrate rabid support? :smile2:

i think that part is cool, too.

That's probably it, or the part where you won't engage opposing fans in any sort of discussion, you just attack them mercilessly.

If you weren't a Boulderite I'd wonder whether you're a campaign manager for the GOP...

you have probably struck upon an ideal career match. except for the part that i am not registered with that political party.

Some would say you would make an even more ideal match with the other party... :smile2:

But since I understand that it is a good idea to keep you on my side, or at least not on the other side from me, I would not be one of those... :wink2:

you would want me on your side, because you know the libs would have an enhanced state of copulation. :smile2:

anyone who offers me a great paycheck, several get-out-of-jail free cards, and lets me roam in my skiboots can have my services at PR disruption.

cu should have hired me to play reverse media circus with a certain party girl or two.

We left in the 4th quarter as I was vetoed. If it had just been DD and I, we would have stayed until the bitter end. But when you go to a game with a friend who you call up at 11 pm on a Friday night and ask her if she will make you a bed if we show up (with the dog) at 7 am in the morning and she screams "hell yes" then you have to be prepared to make some concessions.

We may have gotten our asses handed to us, but I still had a great time.

I believe Mr. Scott is a five star recruit. Most news I'm hearing on him lists him as the #1 RB prospect in the country.

But I agree with your assessment.

And for the record, I stayed until the bitter end. I turned to my FIL and said "Well, look on the bright side, we can stand up and nobody will tell us to sit down".

I'd be checking Philly for that hoodie. He has a history of stealing stuff. He's a total clepto.

five star = even better than i was giving credit for. :woot: i think he will be a buff!

standing without being told to sit down = :woot: gotta love THAT!

philly = intrinsically good hearted. he refuses to allow his son to wear red, so how bad can he be?
