per ESPNews. I am interested because the Buffs play the Aggies at College Station next fall. Also reported the Aggies are hot on the trail of the Tubeman. Can they pry him away from Auburn? What say ye boulderBuff?

As discussed in other threads, why would Tuberville leave Auburn for a vastly inferiror position at A&M? Auburn can compete in an arms race, too.

I don't know but TexAgs is blowing up with multiple posters saying they have heard about Fran being bought out and offers bieng made to Tube. Whether he goes to aTm remains to be seen...I can't imagine why he would.

Fran's most definitely out, and weirder things have happened, but I just can't see Tuberville taking that kind of step down. Although, I'd love to have tubsie out of Auburn.

I'm not sure I like the prospect of having to face off v. Tubes two of every four years as a Buff fan. He just might make those underachiveing Aggies a real threat.

Tuberville is probably encouraging the rumors--what better way to get yourself a bump?

I think they are believing that since Fran jumped from Bama to 3rd in the South other SEC coaches will be willing to also. What they don't understand is that Fran probably knew at the time he jumped that he couldn't sustain what he had going in Bama and voluntarily jumped to an inferior program in hopes of riches, lower expectations and luck.

i don't know about that. at the time, Mack was saddled with the "can't win the big one" label and the blue chips in Texas were being raided by OU and ATM could have been poised to make a pretty big, decisive move on the Horns in-state.

However, VY won the NC and that was that. everyone in the state of Texas became a Horn fan overnight. Fran was stuck losing to Tech year after year.

I agree, and Fran also had some emotional ties to aggy and the state of Texas that Tuberville simply doesn't have.

I could be off, but I think when Fran took the job at bama, it was not yet known that they would soon be facing sanctions from violations that occurred under Dubose. When he left to aTm, it was after the sactions had surfaced, thus making aTm look better than it might otherwise be to a bama coach in good standing with the base.

i think that's true. the lore is that after the sanctions surfaced, Fran held an emotional, rousing team meeting about how they were all in it together and Roll Tide and whatnot....and then took the ATM job a month later or something.

Bama Charlie could probably tell us more.

He did coach at Texas A&M for a bit before he became head coach at Ole Miss.

I just don't see Tuberville making this move. He already makes well over $2 million a year. How much money do you really need. Plus he has to deal with unrealistic expectations at A&M. Meanwhile, Auburn fans really like the guy (and will love him if he beats Bama for the sixth straight time). If it happens, I will be very disappointed. A&M is NOT a better job than Auburn.

Tommy's been treated like crap more than once at Auburn by the administration and with rumors that Petrino wants back in college it could put some more heat on Tuberville in Auburn.

There is no "heat" on Tuberville. He has the full backing of the AD (the AD that was part of the Petrino debacle is not there any longer). Tuberville has the job as long as he wants it.

A lot of us said the same thing about Fran when he came to A&M. Fran was considered one of the best coaches in the country when he came to A&M. I'm not sure what happened there.

The long and short of it is that we're going up against good coaches every week in the Big 12. Tuberville isn't any better than Stoops or Brown.

Good points but I have to disagree with you on Brown...he can recruit and is a good coach but he's probably middle of the pack in the Big 12.

Exactly, how many times has Brown lived up to expectations or team ability without Radio at QB?

Zero, that is my point. But sionce recruiting is a part of coaching, I still put him in the middle of the pack. Give him KU's talent and UT is Baylor.

The ESPN report is almost word for word what has been circulating on the A&M message boards. Makes me wonder if that is the ESPN source - Internet Rumors.

I believe he is gone but I doubt they will get him out for $2 Million. He has a contract and it will be tough to prove breach based upon selling his newsletter.

Mack Brown is one of two coaches in the Big 12 to have won a MNC.

Nuff said. I don't care if he did it with Radio or not. Fact is, he's gotten talent into Austin and won with it.

I'd be more than happy to swap records with UT over the past seven or eight years.

Mack is a GREAT coach. 2nd best in the Big 12, IMO.

Fran is not nearly the coach Tuberville is. Tuberville has built Auburn into a consistent SEC power while Fran lived off of two decent years at Bama and some good years at smaller schools.

Fran was pretty good at UNM and TCU before heading off to Alabama. You're probably right about comparing him to Tubeville, but we were worried when he came to A&M. I know we were.

aggy never disappoints. They are throwing out Spurrier's name and some act like they are too good to take Tuberville. Hilarious.

Oh Loard.

You'll appreciate this quote from Texags this morning:

"hopefully you are right and Tuberville stays in bama with all his hick friends"

Apparently Collie Station is downright cosmopolitan.

That depends on the language of it. Most of these contracts have an embarassment clause. If the contractor does something that tarnishes the image or the institution of the contractee than that is cause for firing. Public nudity, frolicking with a striper, or breaking the law is usually cause enough. Has anyone determined if Fran broke the law (HIPA) for disclosing player injuries?

I'd imagine there would be some restrictions about using your position with the contractee for gain without the contractee's consent. So, yes we ok'd the Nike contract that you benefit from but no not your newsletter. Obvioulsy they do promotion commercials and the like so probably not in there.
