Awesome news:thumbsup:

It's going to be tough for him to beat out the other two though. Laurinatis is the son of one of the Road Warriors (Animal I believe) and plays for the #1 team in the country. Dan Connor from PSU plays on the east coast. Not to mention that they are both stud linebackers.

He needs to have a huge game on national television the day after Thanksgiving. I don't think he'll win, but to be a finalist is a huge accomplishment.

link?

Worked for Matt Russell, I'm convinced that game put him over the top.
Not exactly the same quality of opponent as in '96. That being said, Dizon should only need an average game which for him would be 8 solos and 11 total tackles right? Congrats to Jordan who resurrected the legacy of fine middle backers during a very challenging time to be a Buff. People will look back at Dizon and T-Wheat as being some of the foundation blocks for future success. Great Buffs!!!

Was there really any doubt that he wouldn't. Doesn't he lead the nation in tackles?

Not anymore...in total tackles but he does still lead in solo tackles.

Dizon has 85 solo tackles. Laurinatis has 85 TOTAL tackles (His 34 total tackles does not rank in the top 100 in the country). Connor has 52 solo stops.

here's a more complete break down of the numbers

Dizon is #5 in the country in total tackles (119, 11.90 pg)
Dizon is #1 in solo tackles with 85, 8.5 pg(17 more than #2)

Laurinatis is #77 in total tackles, not ranked in the top 100 in solo tackles (34 solo tackles)

Connor is #16 in total tackles and #55 in solo tackles

Dizon has 11 solo tackles for loss, 4 sacks 2 ints, 1 TD, 1 FF and 4 QB hurries

Laurinatis has 6 solo tackles for loss, 5 sacks, 2 ints, 0 TDs, 0 FF 0 hurries

Connor has 10 solo tackles for loss, 5 sacks, 1 Int, 0 Tds, O FF O hurries

Based on numbers, this should be a slam dunk for Jordan Dizon. Unfortunately these other two candidates play on the east coast and for more prominent programs.

Jordan Dizon has been a freaking beast since the day he stepped on the campus at CU. He deserves this recognition.

Good luck Jordan, we're rooting for you.

I wonder if both Conner and Laurinatis being from the B10 and east of the Mississippi will hurt them (split vote).

Congratulations to Jordan. Recognition well earned.

I vote for Dizon and I know that's very important but will be hard to overcome the east coast bias; stats aside - maybe the Ohio State will lose???

Go Buffs

Reply to self: Holz was talking about the best defensive player in the country: Laurinatis!!! Guess he did not check the stats.
