Listen up people, this team is still a team on the rise.

2 years ago. 30-3, 70-3.

1 year ago 2-10

This year, 5-6 with a chance to get bowl eligible vs. Nebraska, in fact that game will be between two 5-6 teams looking to get to .500.

Going into this season, most gave us no chance at a bowl game. Even us diehard buff fans admitted that our expectations were high, but realized that we are a young team that will take it's lumps. We have had a roller coaster season. A huge riavlry win to open the year, close games vs. ASU and FSU. An upset over Oklahoma, an upset win over Texas Tech, A WIN OVER BAYLOR YAAAAAY FINALLY!!!. Then we have had our down times, KSU, Mizzou and ISU.

I think we have come along from last year. Now, lets get bowl eligible (even though we might not go) with a win over Nebraska and look forward to next year wear we will have a lot of returning starters on offense and will be better.

Recruiting is looking good, our future looks good.

I guess I can't share your optimism right now. We're still making the same mistakes in the 11th game that we were making in Week 1. We have regressed as the season has transpired.

When are people going to rightfully put some heat on this staff? We blew a 21-point lead today!

Thats nice and all and basically the reason i am still a hawk bandwagoneer ...but when you think about it...

We're still making the same mistakes in the 11th game that we were making in Week 1. We have regressed as the season has transpired.

We blew a 21-point lead today!

this is also a very compelling argument and very true. Regression is not acceptable. Blowing a 21 point lead in the second half to a 2-8 isu team is not acceptable. Recruiting might look good now, but not if this continues. Things must change soon. A (probable) loss to nebraska would really really put a sour note on this once promising season. No more excuses about young teams and things like that next year.

i will put more heat on the staff after next year. i see the same mistakes but i also see a beat down and banged up team with no bye week. this team is young and that cannot be stated enough. we are building a foundation and i have no fear that we will see more than six wins next year and a marked improvement.

i am not sure how much they could have changed their game plan as the team that is blowing the other team out ususally keep trying to do what was successful.

Exactly. The flip side of the coin is that we BUILT a 21 point (should have been 28 point) lead on the road, with a ton of injuries, and about 15 freshmen starting for us. We played like garbage in the second half, but the complete game effort was clearly good enough to get us into OT.

The refs, for whatever reason, didn't see things that way.

Blowing a 21 point lead is the sign of a very young team. So axing anybody at this point would be moronic. Like coach mac said. Let's give hawk 3 years before we start calling for his head.

How many deep passes did they give up today? You'd think after #2 or #3 they would have adjusted, but they didn't...

Blythe is awesome. This isn't the first time he's killed us. But our secondary got burned in man situations. The safeties were taking horrible angles on the deep passes.

Listen up people, Two years ago we were getting defecated on, then last year we moved up to bukkkake queen status, and now we're all big 12 fluff boys. Improvement i say.

Yep, I'll give you that. Blythe is awesome. But why they weren't playing deep coverage and letting ISU complete the underneath stuff (like they did with Tech) is beyond me. This is the second straight week the secondary has been torched deep on a regular basis. Don't give them the chance to beat you deep. That's on the coaches and the defensiv playcalling.

Even Terrell Davis isn't the answer if the coaching staff decides to abandon the run in the third quarter.

Abandoned? I agree they started to call more passing plays but it wasn't like the running game was the same in the second half. Hugh shows up and flash! He's gone. Gene Chizik made the adjustments neccessary to win. Hawk didn't.

That's always a precarious situation for coaches though. One team is up 21 points at the half, so one of the coaches has to make halftime adjustments... but should the other one? I mean, you're up 21 points, should you change your gameplan simply because you think the other team is going to change their gameplan?

No, you don't need to change it right away, but you better be ready to change if you can see that the other team has adjusted to what you're doing.

Agreed. Running the ball is all about attitude. You have to stick with it if you want to succeed.

After going back and looking at the second half play-by-play, the were running more than I remembered. Abandoned may not be the best term. But there were a couple series that stuck out to me, one being the series directly before Eb's missed FG (I guess officially his only attempt of the day :pissed:). They ran the ball twice for 9 yards on that series. Unfortunately, they went with a dumbass pass call on first down, so they ended up having to kick on fourth down. Same thing happened with one of their early possessions in the third - two good runs and a stupid incomplete pass. Especially with Cody having trouble keeping himself controlled and hitting the passes at that point.

We are so *ucking young. This is very hard but not killing me. Well, killing me too bad. Well, maybe a little. OK, it is *ucking killing me! Bet we shall overcome! How many freshmen/sophomores are playing? See what KU is doing. We will be that next year.

So what happened did you lose again. You can still watch OU play.

I'm not sure with Cody. Part of me says they should've benched him and went with Nelson. And another says that he's a rsfreshmen. These kind of games should be expected. We are showing our youth. Up and Down. I don't know which team will show up week to week.
