Because 1 game does not a season make. Because we're pulling in top caliber recruits. Because the product on the field is 500x better now than it was last year, and it wasn't even all THAT bad last year. Because we'd likely be 6-5 right now if not for the worst officiating this side of Tim Donaghy.

And because JimmyBuff handles losing with all the grace of a cinderblock falling down a fire escape.

kaBOOM! i am disappointed in the outcome, and think there needs to be some answers. from boulder AND the b12.

however, what is done is done.

We are a better team than last year. Night and day better. We are a young team, a very young team that has held it's own for the most part this season. We are landing top recruits. We got a new locker room. We got a new practice bubble. Game attendance is up. TV appearances are up.

Maybe I'm oversimplifying but it seems to me there is a lot of positive overall things going on with the program. Maybe we shouldn't start the blood letting just yet.

Do I want more? Hell yes!!!! But I don't see anything broken at the moment. What happened last week and today are growing pains and yes they hurt but they are necessary to build the program. Mac went 1-10 in his 3rd year. His 3rd year! and Hawk is only in his 2nd. What say we give Hawk a real chance to make it work.

Let's not forget that while yes, we did sacrifice a 21 point lead, if the refs had called the game properly we would have been going into overtime with all of the momentum. In all likelihood, this team would be bowl eligible right now if not for two consecutive remarkably bad calls.

God... I feel like a Sooner fan right now.

I like Hawk. I'm firmly on the bandwagon. I think he's doing some nice things.

But at what point does the guy have to take some criticism? I'm asking a serious question, because it seems like quite a few people are calling out anyone that dares to question the coaching staff at all.

I agree the refs were terrible, but had we not let up after halftime we would not have be blaming the refs. This is a much better team than last year and it shows (hanging with ASU, KU beating OU...) and yes this is a young team and while people dont like that excuse some of these kids have played in 11 games and are playing against guys (Meyer) who has played 47 or something like that. Its like the NFL you usually dont expect a rookie to outplay someone who has been playing for 10 years (sometimes not the case). This team has exceeded all expectations set before the season and are now on the verge of playing in a bowl game. Some people need to realize we werent gonna go from 2-10 to national champions by having to start so many freshman. We have doubled our wins from last year and went 3-0 against the south. Not to shabby in my book.

I still have full faith that Hawk will get us where everyone wants, it will take a few years. We are taking huge steps towards the promise land, we just have a little ways to go.

I have no problem laying criticism on the guy, but I have a hard time doing so myself. I had to listen to the game on the radio, so I can't comment on how the team "looked" in the first half, as opposed to how they "looked" in the second half.

I heard a lot of dropped passes for first downs, I heard a lot of overthrows/underthrows from Cody, and a lot of missed tackles. Considering the results they reaped in the first half, I'd be led to believe the coaches had them ready to play this game coming in... they just stopped executing in the second half.

I'll give the kids credit for fighting back after they surrendered that lead though, those last 3 minutes were gutty as all hell. They did everything they needed to to do get this game into OT... and then, well, you know what happened.

It's fine to question our players and coaches for certain things, but to call for their heads is another matter. Some people on this site seem to just want results immediately. OU was a great game, but that doesn't mean we should expect this team to provide those results every week. WHY? Because they are so young and facing an uphill battle in terms of speed and talent. I personally feel every college coach should be give four years to show what he can do. Not so much to get "his" players into the program, but to instill his system into the team.

Perhaps this is sort of a weak statement, but critique and criticism are different things. When our critiques of the program start to get so negative and aggressive that we criticize our players and coaches, I think we need to check ourselves. After logically and objectively looking at it, if we still feel criticism is needed, perhaps then we need a change? I don't think that time is now or will be anytime in the near future.

And my question is does he know the difference between aggressiveness and stupidity?

Up by 21 and going for it on 4th down in your own territory? 21 point lead or not, that's just stupid!:bang:

Hawk was always a "riverboat gambler" with his play calling; maybe he is learning that field position is a large part of the game at the higher level???

Why is this stupid? We were nearly at mid field. Dilalo would have had to punt into the wind so we likely would have netted only 25 yards on the punt. The D had held ISU to 0 points in the first half so if it doesn't work we should still be okay. I know it's a little bit of a risky move but why not go for it on 4th and short? If we get it and keep the drive alive and score a TD we go up 28-0 and we've nailed the coffin shut on them. It's only a stupid move if you know before hand that your D is about to forget how to tackle or cover receivers.

I'll post in this thread.

JimmyBuff is a disgrace.

Still believe we were very lucky to get Dan Hawkins in Boulder. See ya back on wagon later, Jimmy.

I'll post in this thread.

:yeahthat:

Just wanted to post in this thread. I may not love every move Hawkins makes, but I am damn glad he is in Boulder. I can live with the fact that we aren't undefeated in year two. But I do hope that the coaching staff is growing, just the way that the young players are also expected to grow.

It is a learning experience for everyone involved with the team.

I like Hawk. I think he's a good coach. I'll wait untill his boys are here before i make any judgments on how he's running this program.

Agreed, I like him. Hopefully he's learning from these disappointments and next year is a major step forward.

This is easy..
actually pineapple makes your protein juice taste sweeter, that's probably the reason why your breath smells like manchowder.

Hey Ralph, apparently this loser is mixing a coctail with pineapple juice and some of your jiz. Something about sweetining your manchowder...

If you fail to donate at the sperm bank, this guy might starve!!!:wow:

i'm just surprised that your keyboard didn't malfunction with all the drool coming from you thinking about jizz.

yeah the post was about drinking pineapple to sweeten your manchowder, and ralphies breath smelling like it. I don't know where your fantasy about me crept in, but hey, not that there's anything wrong with that.

i dunno what his story is, but he does seem to want to present himself as an expert on the apparently varying tastes of man-juice. hey, to each their own, i have no problem with him doing whatever he wants behind closed doors if that is what he is into, but the vitriol coupled with the not-so-subtle bashing tells you everything you need to know about the latest incarnation of 82-a-days.

get over it.
