ESPN Classic CU-Corn...the squib kick game

Ugh, I don't think I could watch 99 or 00. I've never watched either one since they happened and I don't know if I could watch them now.

Good God was that Clownahan who stated that? Oooops wrong team and year! Funny how some coaches nut up and take the blame for "their" team's mistakes and losses, while other's are delusional and see that they are doing nothing wrong.

The thing that pissed me off about this game the most was the fact that given their chance, the nubs kicked their field goal. The year before, when we had our chance, we missed ours. :bang:

There was also a play on the nubs last drive when they passed the ball and our DB had his hands on it and just missed an INT that would have sealed the game. Sooooo effing close.

Yeah, Jackson I think. It wasnt an easy catch, but definetely makeable

I tell you guys, when this happened I thought this loss was the WORST LOSS IN THE HISTORY OF CU FOOTBALL..:thumbsup:

All joking aside, What a frickin moron Barnett was..

I'd like to see espn classic run a "classic blowouts" week at some point. While the general sports viewing public would always like to see an unbelievable finish come out of every game they watch, I think often the most cherished victories for individual fan bases are the ones where their team just flat out steamrolled a team that they hate.

Aside from that rationale, I've always wanted to see the original game broadcast of the 2001 CU/NU game. I was at Folsom for that one, and while I wouldn't trade that experience for all the harems in the middle east, I've always wondered what the commentators were saying during that game... especially the first quarter.

Somebody on here had to have watched that game on TV, did the commentators ever audibly blurt out "what the **** is going on here?? Seriously, are you kidding me?? Holy mother of ****!" One inquiring mind wants to know.

I have a tape of that game and it is pretty funny. The commentators (musberger was one of them if memory serves) start the game just gushing about the juggernaut that is fusker football. Then CU scores. But they don't really stop their leg humping until the score is 28-0, at which point they start to really get entertaining.

I watch that replay all the time to get me in the mood (for football ofcourse!)

The best line I remember (other than Mushburger "consoling" the crying Fusker kid by saying "there's a lot of adults in fuskerland that would like to do the same thing" or somesuch) .... was when Purify went about sixty yards for his second TD (it was called back for "holding" :pissed:) and Danielson said "Yeah ... it's coming back .... but WHERE ARE THE NEBRASKA LINEBACKERS?!?!?

That still brings a smile to my face. :smile2:
