Looks like it'll be Mizzou, WVa, tOSU as of tomorrow. Im guessing LSU makes the at large bid for the SEC. KU for the Big 12. Hawaii probably in now as well.

If Kanas loses tonight, I don't think they deserve a BCS bowl. Their schedule was a joke. There are a bunch more 2 loss teams I would put ahead of them

I think they need to win tonight to be deserving of a BCS bid.

ASU is 9-2. If they lose to U of A next weekend they can kiss the BCS goodbye. I agree that a KU team that hasn't beaten anybody and is getting destroyed right now (21-0) is probably no lock for the BCS.

I don't know if KU had to win, but I tend to agree with you. This performance tonight doesn't look like a BCS team to me. That said, I think they've got a bit of stage fright going as well. One of their greatest strengths has been being fundamentally sound, and tonight they've made a lot of uncharacteristic mistakes (dropped balls, missed FGs, missed tackles, etc.)

I kind of agree with ASU, but the thing is, the at large field for the BCS is getting painfully thin. Georgia should be a lock since their season is over and they'll probably be in the top 5. But if ASU loses, they'll have 3 losses. If OU loses, they'll have 3 losses. Oregon is done like a well done steak. The Big 10 has nothing beyond OSU. Ditto the Big East and WVU. Somebody has to play in those BCS games, and I think a few teams are going to have some warts that will have to be overlooked...

What are the rules for BCS?

I know certain teams get an automatic BCS invitation. But then is there any type of rule where if you are ranked in the top 10 of the BCS, you have to get a BCS bowl?

That might be the only thing that saves Kansas (provided they don't have a nice comeback against Mizzou)

Kanzass is getting exposed like a dirty politician. The bcs will bypass them.

And oregon has faded like a cheap pair of jeans.

Couple of weeks ago, it looked like Oregon vs LSU or OhSt for the title. KU an outside shot for a bcs bowl.

Whats next?

OK, I spoke a little too soon. KU could very well make the BCS after finally showing up in this game. Congrats to MU.

  • Big 10, Big 12, Pac 10, ACC, SEC, BigEast Champs all get automatic seats.
  • The rest go to at large teams including WAC, MW, CUSA or whoever is ranked high enough.
  • No conference can have more than 2 teams in the BCS.

I think so too. There aren't going to be many 2 loss teams, let alone 1 loss teams like KU. If Mizzou wins next week, I think KU is in the BCS. Otherwise, I think it is OU and Mizzou going to the BCS.

conference can have more than 2 teams in the BCS.

Are you sure about that? I was always under the impression only 1 at large BCS team could come from each conference...

I think Kansas is a good team but they played NOBODY in the nonconference.. I don't think it will happen but I wouldn't shed a tear if the BCS passed them by..

Missouri is legit.. Although I'll be rooting for them to lose to the Sooners..

BCS rules are such bulls%$# that I don't even want to know them until CU actually is good enough to be eligible for a BCS bid.. So I'll wait until then to figure all the BCS rules.. Until then, screw the BCS.

I'm not sure, but I think you have to get a BCS spot if you are ranked in the top 6, right? I feel like they added that rule in after K-State lost the B12 title game and then fell all the way to the Alamo Bowl even though they were ranked 4 or something like that.

KU did show some heart coming back in this game but for me it keeps coming back to their non-conference scheudule..

-Central Michigan (MAC)
-SE Louisiana (I-AA)
-Toledo (MAC)
-Florida International (Sun Belt)

I love when bad things happen to KSU

I think your right. I believe it got Boise in. Because so many teams are with two losses this year they lowered the minimum ranking to accommodate teams after two have been selected (SEC, b12 had 3 teams in top 12 but only 2 can go)

Well, I know you need to be at least 14 to get an at-large bid (which they might have to change on the fly this year depending on how things end up). But, I'm not sure if there is a cutoff for an automatic BCS bid. Now I'm thinking it might actually be 4 b/c I remember something about Cal a couple years ago getting passed by UT in the last poll and were sent to the Holiday instead at number 5.

Here's the source:
http://www.bcsfootball.org/bcsfb/eligibility

The rule that was added after KSU got screwed is #5, if you're ranked 3 from a BCS conference, then you get an automatic at-large (assuming there's an at-large spot still open after rules 1-4 are used).

Then rule #6 makes it so that the team ranked 4 gets the same treatment (if there's a spot after rule #5 is applied).

Nice edit on your earlier post...

I agree with what you're saying now. No more than 2 teams from each conference...

:sad1: I sucked at the internet on that post. I had a return between No and Conference can have... that F'd it up.

You just wanted to call me out. :smile2:
