Hey Nebraska, I know you're trying to recrate the "Glory days"....

The NU fans are looking at this process a bit like the Underpants Gnomes from South Park

Step 1: Bring Dr. Tom back to Lincoln as AD
Step 2: Fire Callahan
Step 3: Dr. Tom becomes interim head coach
Step 4: ?????
Step 5: National Championship!

That's how I see it, anyway. :smile2:

This looks more like a desperation move to the public. However, the real story is this part of the article;

The interim coach designation lets Osborne visit prospective recruits away from campus, athletic department communications chief Randy York said Thursday.

The 70-year-old Osborne passed the NCAA certification test on his first try Wednesday, York said. Osborne went on the road to recruit Thursday and Friday, and the school sent a letter notifying the Big 12 of Osborne's new title, York said.

Once a hire is made, Osborne could continue to recruit until the new coach assembles a full staff of nine assistants, York said.

By contacting players, as a representative of the University of Nebraska, without being a member of the coaching staff, is very likely an NCAA violation. This is why he was giving out his cell phone number and encouraging recruits to call him before Callabortion got fired.

I was hoping he'd miss that and get NU in trouble. Shucks! :smile2:

Bad move. Unless of course he has his boy lined up already. Isay boy, because any coach coming in now knows he has TO looking over his shoulder and making "suggestions", probably including the staff too. I'm sure the elite coaches are loving that prospect. So it's Gill or Pelini, the only two candidates who would put up with that kind of crap. I'll go with Bo Peep as my prediction.

Ummm, its been reported for almost 24 hours that it's down to Bo or Gill.

You think LSU wants Bo as their head man? From what Ive heard that isnt the case.

That might be what the fans think. The administration makes the decisions.

Pelini has directed an LSU defense that ranked No. 3 in the nation in total defense in back-to-back seasons, while also ranking No. 3 nationally in scoring in 2005 and No. 4 in 2006.

Guess where they are ranked this year?

Thats why fans (mostly nutcases) don't get to make those decisions. They don't like him becuase he can be a bit of an ahole at times.

Maybe he would be an outstanding head coach? Who the hell knows? All I know is regardless of the decision I'll still watch the Huskers next season whether the season is just like this season or just like the 1997 season. It doesn't matter because I don't get paid millions to make those decisions.

You are a heck of a valuable viewer. I think you should bargain for a raise.

Is this how you recreate the Glory Days?

2008 kNU football schedule:
1-Home vs.San Jose St.
2-Home vs. New Mexico St.
3-HOME vs. VaTech
4-Home vs. Western Michigan

My neighbor, who is a Corn fan, said to me: The reason Colorado will never be good is because they don't schedule cupcakes like we do. When I told him we were at FL St. and at home vs. West Virginia he told me "That's stupid"

Now looking at our schedule in 4 back to back weeks: @ FL St, WV, Texas, @ KU.... yikes!
