Trouble in Tallahassee

First the situation at WVU, now this. Our non-conference schedule might not be as bad as originally thought.

From the article...
As many as 20 Florida State football players will be suspended from playing against Kentucky in the Dec. 31 Gaylord Hotels Music City Bowl, as well as the first three games of the 2008 season, for their roles in an alleged cheating scandal involving an Internet-based course, a source with knowledge of the situation said Tuesday morning.

If our game gets moved up to Sept 13, then this very well may affect CU.

Sounds like there may be some problems down FSU way. I can't think of any recruits still considering both FSU and CU, so I don't think that this'll have any effect on us this offseason, but I'm just glad there's now another "scandal" to take the undeserved heat off of Boulder...

May not effect us this offseason, but it could definitely have an impact next season. According to the info I've seen, they are looking at suspending 20 guys for their bowl game AND the first three games of next season. I haven't been able to find a 2008 schedule for them, but the CU game in Tallahassee is CU's third game of next season. Hard to tell if those players will still be suspended when the Buffs go there, but if not it should be their first game back and the team may not have a lot of cohesion at that point.

So far, of CU's OOC opponents next year:

CSU fired their long-time coach
WVU lost their coach and may be losing most of their top players - mostly as a result of losing the coach
FSU has been struck with a cheating scandal that may have a significant % of their roster suspended when they meet the Buffs...

C'mon Eastern Washington - let's see what you got... :smile2:

Eastern Washington's coach took the job at Washington State, so there ya go.:smile2:

Yeah, that was the point that I was trying to make, but I didn't quite get there... I'm an hour earlier than you guys if you're MST so that's MY excuse.:smile2:

I'm wondering if the players will be able to go through spring drills and fall practices with the team or not.

20 players is 1/5 of the entire squad. That's a lot.

That's the thing I don't get yet either. Are these guys just suspended from football or from school as well? A suspension of just 4 games seems awfully light. I have to imagine that these players will be suspended from school as well. Kind of surprised no one is getting thrown out of school.

first 4 games for FSU not sure what order their website sucks...Florida, Miami, CU, and NC State. OUCH:bang:

Okay, as of right now Florida St has Florida and Colorado lined up for their non-con schedule. I'm going to assume they line up 2 DI-AA teams for their their first two games. I'm also going to assume they want their full team facing Tebow. All this means we'll likely be playing a shorthanded FSU team next year.

Not in any order, schedule won't be finalized until january. Miami and NC State are Conference games, I'm guessing they won't play those shorthanded.

Very good logic assuming these players are only suspended for 3 games. If it is 4 then we will definitely be facing a depleted team. They will want to apply the suspensions against OOC opponents prior to hitting their conference schedule.

I can't remember for sure - have they still be playing Miami at the start of the season, or did that game get moved back into the heart of the conference schedule when The U  joined the ACC??

It was moved back this year.

It can be moved to th beginning if the ACC wants to.
