What if the flag from the home state of each player was put on their helmet? That would totally psych up the out of staters, as well as the kids inside the boarders.
Sure beats whatever is posted on the Buckeye's helmets, too.
Damn! Nice! Hawkins just keeps coming up with gems. That looks amazing. Can't wait until he encloses Folsom. That 70,000 seat bowl is going to be cozy. Go Hawk!
Encloses?? I hope you don't mean a dome...as in no beautiful view...
no, expanding Folsom on the northern end.
probably not likely to happen anytime in the next 20 to 30 years or so.

hmmm.... I hear you, and agree that it would be OK if done well. Don't want to see them do something that doesn't fit the current CU architecture which is pretty sweet...
Disagree Skid. We are the University of Colorado, not California, not Texas, etc. The student-athletes that come here are representing OUR state. I think CU already gets a lot of crap for being the University of California at Boulder, etc. I think this is a way of instilling some pride in Colorado, wherever they are from originally.
Just playing devil's advocate. It could be a trade-off between fan support and recruitment/player motivation. I'm thinking that a hotshot highschool kid from out of state might consider the CO flag too provential, and opt for Notre Dame instead. I also know that the out of state players get a tremendous charge playing in front of their friends and families at home and away. What's wrong with a Texas kid wearing a Texas flag on the helmet while playing at Austin, Waco, College Station or Lubbuck? Imagine what it would do for good will if the Hawaiians on the team got to put Hawaii on the helmet in 2011?
In the bowl game, I can see how a player from Louisiana might have been really proud to sport the Louisiana flag in Shreveport. Nothing but good would come from that.
On the other hand, there are players like Jake Behrens. That right there should be enough to kill the idea.

Besides, the CO electorate has screwed up funding for higher education, forcing the school to rely more and more on fed grants, tuition hikes, and foundation support. If CO wants to direct more tax $$ to the school, then your point would be stronger.
I would love to see Folsom expanded to 80,000 seats at some point. With a little ingenuity, it could be done. They'd have to put another level on the West Side and rearrange the flatirons club/press box and enclose the North end and put some more seats in at upper level of the NE corner of the stadium.
Personally, I don't go to the football games to look at the mountains. I can look at them anytime.
I have no idea what a Nebraska state flag flag looks like, but it's not a big red N. The only 2 flags in the same league as CO, IMO is Arizona and Maryland. The rest of them...boring.
I see your point, but I have a huge problem with the Texas flag on a Colorado helmet. I like the CO flag. We need some in-state pride for this school.
