I miss having all the big bowls on Jan 1

That was special. Wake up and catch a little of the Gator Bowl before switching over to the Cotton Bowl, then the Fiesta Bowl, then the Rose, then the Orange/Sugar bowl combo. That was great. Now the entire experience has been spread out over an entire week. :sad1:

Yep. New Year's Day used to be great. Roll out of bed after partying the night before and just feast on a big spread while watching 7-8 football games.

Yep,it was awesome, although with your drinking,it must have been by the time the sugar/orange rolled around that your hangover started to subside:lol:

Well ... there were still 6 games on the 1st.

True, but how much cooler would it have been with the Fiesta Bowl and Orange Bowl on there as well?:smile2:

The other thing that sucks is the Buffs not playing in any of these bowls lately.:sad1:

:stupid: I loved watching the Cotton Bowl with Lindsay Nelson early in the day, then the Rose with Keith Jackson and later either the Sugar on ABC or the Orange on NBC, guaranteed to include the most ridiculous halftime shows ever.

What I really hate with the way it is now is that they try to cram even more bowls onto NYD than they used to, but they clear the decks for the Rose and Sugar Bowls (or whatever the 2 BCS games are in the afternoon/evening that year), so you get about 5 or 6 games all going at the same time in the morning. I either end up getting into one game and totally missing all the rest or doing so much channel flipping that I can't follow any of the games.

I was just thinking about this same thing the other day and feel the same way. Too many bowls have moved to New Year's Day, which in part stems from the fact that there's too many bowls overall, but that's another story. These other BCS bowls just don't seem as special since they've been moved to after NYD. That's one thing I like and admire about the Rose Bowl, that they've managed to keep their same timeslot for as long as I can recall, which is about 25 years now.

I was thinking the same thing this AM while reading the article on the Orange Bowl. All day football, don't move from the couch, flip back and forth between the best games. It was the day I dedicated to the gods of football!

I think we all agree. This game per night during the work week just sucks. And why have the MNC game on Monday night? What the hell is so special about football on a damned Monday? Have the BCS bowl games on New Years day and then top off the day with an evening MNC game.

Just be thankful you're not in the Eastern time zone for these work week bowl games. :sad2:

And that's another thing, the MNC game - why the fu<k is it on Monday night and not tonight?!?? There's no games tonight when of all nights there should be a game!! :pissed3:

What I dont get is, why are the International Bowl and GMAC Bowl this weekend? We have been watching the big dogs, now this weekend we have to watch the likes of Tulsa and Rutgers. These two bowls should have been back in December with the other **** bowls.

Because the great ncaa gods have so decreed. We the peons and serfs have no vote in their magical world of money and power. We are only the fans - we don't count.

I think it´s because they want to give the city etc. some more time between the games and the first January weekend is off limits because of the NFL playoffs.
