Battle of National Champs

Though I highly doubt they'll come out flat after seeing the Michigan debacle in 07, I really don't understand what LSU's doing here. If you're going to schedule a 1-AA opponent, schedule a BAD 1-AA opponent, not a repeated national champion.

LSU will get much more mileage out of scheduling a team like App State instead of a bad I-AA team or some lower-tier I-A team. As for the game itself, I don't think LSU has anything to worry about as long as they don't overlook this game, and as you pointed out, that's extremely unlikely.

Hell yes, everyone and their brother will want to go see the little team that beat MU in the big house. I see a very enthusiastic LSU crowd for this game.

Can App State pull another shocker? Doubtful.

App State, the I-AA national champ, will play MNC LSU on August 30th.

Yeah I dont think Appie State will be surprising anyone this year, but wouldnt it be funny if they beat LSU?!

What would that say about Div 1A vs Div 1AA? I know, new year, new team and all that... but still sends a clear message that on any given Saturday any team could win, thus no handing out MNC's prior to season start anymore.

Rankings dont mean cr@p and we are in dire need of a playoff system.

Sorry, off my soapbox and thought I'd throw that in.

I'll be rooting for Appie state!
