Rivals - is it worth it?

Gotta admit, I caught the DS bug in a big way, so I signed on for a membership to Rivals back in November..

For those of you that have been there for a while, is it worth the money to keep the membership in the off-season? For that matter, is it worth it to keep it during the season? Or is there just as much info on the free sites?

Any advice is welcomed! Thanks

I'm wondering the same thing.

I personally don't think rivals or scout is worth it. The info on there is not that secretive and usually slips onto message boards anyways from subscribers. You'll also find the news papers reporting the same stuff. You can keep your account so you can report to us if you want. :wink2:

If you have grown to like the message board and the recruiting info, then yes its worth it. During spring ball, there are some insightful posters and some good scoop.

During the summer there is usually a lot of bitching that our class is going to suck b/c we don't have a 10 commits already.

During the season- IMO its the best board for football talk and game analysis.

Its going to die down a little and have its ups and downs. But most people over there just take on the year membership which breaks down to getting two months free.

Up to you- but have enjoyed your contribution to the site. Just wish people would keep their same handle so its not so damn confusing. ;)

I subscribed about a week before LOI day and there was so much **** on there not being said here or netbuffs.

I'm LongmontBuff over at Rivals:wink2:

Yup. I know some here refuse to believe it, but alot of info never makes its way here. Sure major news will trickle down to these boards. But if your a recruiting junkie or just a hard core buff fan, you'll love rivals. Tons of info. Adam does a great job.

Me personally, i mostly lurk on the message board. Most everything to be said eventually gets posted by someone. The only drawback imo is some posters on the rivals board are arrogant pricks.

And don't give me the "college students can't afford it" response. If you or your parents can afford to pay for you to attend the U of Colorado, you can spare 10bucks a month on rivals.

I'm not saying ten bucks a month is a lot, it has crossed my mind, but with everything I have billed monthly they always seem to get me right when I have no money. I suck with money.

In college I would have taken those two beers a month (probably 3 back then) and found a good friend with an account.

Insider information is neat, the giant amount information available through the whole network is probably the best part. But the message boards are pretty God awful, lots of name dropping, incredibly old internet memes, old people with too much "honor," and kids without sense or sensibilities. This board is far better for actual discussion.

Totally agree. Now how about that national board...

I just canceled over there because of the $10 dollars, and I am not even a college student.

Although when the bills get a bit tight, like mine did when my wife and I got new cars, certain luxuries have to go. $10 a month for a website was one of those. The decision was made easier by how ****ty the national board is. I don't want to hear a lot of 16 kids spout off about how their team is the greatest ever. It was starting to make me stereotype all fans of Texas as assholes, when I know for a fact that most are not.

That, plus some of the sig pics over there were deffinatly going to get me fired at some point. :wow:

I'm not a huge fan of the message board over there either. National or the BuffStampede.

I hear you about money being tight. I will probably have to cancel here soon. Not my choice. My girlfriend is starting to nag.:wink2::smile2:

I appreciate that - I am going to keep it for a while longer - at least thru spring.
