Somebody please embed this. I obviously have no idea how to do it. There is a Palmer punt return and a Westbrook run for 60 or so yards.

Other than the outcome, looked like a good game. Can't really remember it though, sure I watched it if I was in the US.

CU installed a brand new offense to help with recruiting and start moving towards a more pass-oreiented offense.

Very disappointing as a fan to see Hagan go out like this when he could have easily gone out on a winning note.

Still damn near beat them though but I agree, a little disappointing. I guess spring and fall practices aren't enough time to make the switch?

They made the switch in the month of December.

I know, I just meant that I wish they could have waited until spring practices that year to implement the new system instead of basically throwing away a bowl victory.

But then again he might have wanted to prove to the recruits that he needed for the new system that the change was really going to happen.

'bama cheated. sorry charlie.

CU "secretly" installed a new pass-oriented offense during the bowl practices. the reasons were 2-fold: 1. Mac felt like the option wouldn't take them to the top consistently and they needed to be able to throw it in order to stay in the elite and 2. they wanted to give hagan a chance to show he could throw it in an effort to get him a shot at the league.

when CU came out in that game, they lined up like they were going to run the flex-bone like they'd done for the last few years. hagan barked the shift to the new offense and bama moved into a new defense like it was no big deal. they were totally ready for it.

years later, bama players confirmed to hagan and others that they had spies at the bowl practices and they knew everything CU was going to do. in other words, bama cheated.

the dumbest part about that, imho, is that bama was very good. they won the nc the next year with a freaking GREAT defense. the game would have been a good one, even if they hadn't cheated. as it was, CU lost narrowly. and, i won't forget.

that's the whole truth. no offense, charlie, you don't strike me as a bad sort.

yeah, something like that, the restaruant was cool, and the bowl hostesses were hot. we practiced hard and played hard, then heard the DJ at pepermint's bag on the canadian tourists...Bama had a ton of talent, we were coming down off 2 straight Orange Bowls...

That game was my freshman year & I was at Joe Robbie (as the stadium was then-named) for that one. Fun experience and a tough outcome.
