Wow, Nebraska steps in their own * again...

..
If true, his actions were wrong, but lets not crucify him even if he is guilty. I understand that his football career at Nebraska should be over if he is guilty. But lets remember, WE ALL MAKE MISTAKES, and the time for forgiveness is at hand.

I sincerely hope that he is innocent...but either way, I'll support him and hope he gets his life back together down the road.

I agree, I hope he is able to rebuild his life when its all said and done. I too have two daughters, and would never want something like this to happen to them. But truth be told, we all know that our daughters will be subjected to this type of stuff at some point during their life...hopefully on a smaller scale. In all honesty, I would be upset, but I would never ask for a man to go to prison for a long time over something like that....maybe a little jail time, but prison is not the answer. From what I have read, it doesn't appear that we are talking about a violent rape, simply some groping. This country has turned anything related to sex, as some sort of taboo topic. I also think this country is obsessed with sex, both good and bad. This "victim" isn't dead...she's been alledgedly violated, but life will go on. So I don't think that we need to bury Andy just yet.

So he basically groped some gal under her clothing in a bar, allegedly. Sounds like a real classy guy...and I'm sure his classy fans will be along shortly to defend him.

Nope. This guy will get what he deserves and good riddance to him if he's gonna act that way. That goes for all our players, I don't care who they are. Make a mistake, yes, but you suffer the consequences. BTW: This was already posted. Check the smack room.

Just so everyone is clear here, this is not a small case where he just grabbed her a$$ or something. He is being charged with Sexual Assault in the first degree. In Iowa that involves penetration in one way or another. Kick him off the team, send a message, and ban all of the players from that bar. Nothing, but problems come from that bar.

Consequences being what? Missing a glorified practice game?

. He is being charged with Sexual Assault in the first degree. .

I was wondering why it was 1st degree, I'm no expert on NE law, but I was curious how one would commit first degree assault in a public place without getting the snot beat out of you. I know if I saw something like that going on at my local bar, I would do everything I could to restrain/pummel the perp until the cops arrived.

If he is found guilty of first degree sexual assault, as he is charged with, he needs to be off the team for good. Hopefully he's not treated with the same punishment that Clayton was, know what I'm sayin?

The incident happened at a place called the "Brass Rail". Isn't that a strip club?

EDIT:
Sorry, I just googled it and it's not.
San Jose has a "Brass Rail" and it is a strip club. Well, not really, it's a "bikini club". In California if they serve alcohol they can't get naked. Why people would want to pay that much to not see a girl get naked is beyond me. California retards...

The "Rail" might as well be. Whole lotta skanky girls and over testosteroned guys in that place all the time. I hated going there even when I was in school. Nothing good ever happens there.

the $500,000 bail set on this kid is sobering.

saul - i saw the huskerpediac who waved this off as minor groping that he would not be upset about if it happened to his girls. if anybody "gropes" me or any of my family or friends to the tune of a $500,000 bail, it would be best if they did not put up the post to walk out of the jail doors.

common sense would indicate that simple grab ass does not inspire most judges to a half a million bail.

as lefty asked - what the hell is going on when this can happen in a public place and the perp does not get annhiliated?

Wow, let's see... A sex offender, an assault charge, and 4 disturbing the peace charges (which includes 2 minors) in the last week. Pelini really has a grasp on these guys...

of all of that, i would say witt and christensen are the two real issues. the house party thing is mostly ex-huskers who live with a couple current huskers, who may have not left the house - because they live there.

where are they supposed to disperse to? a treehouse?

I have to be honest, when I first heard this story, it seemed like a pretty minor deal. Not excusable, but not nearly at the level of some of the other stuff that has gone on over there. As more is coming out, I'm getting the impression that this was a much bigger deal than I was originally led to believe. In other words, they don't set $500,000 bond for a guy who sneaks a quick ass grab. This is looking pretty serious.

Here's my take on it. The Duke Lacrosse thing should have taught us to hold off until we get the facts. It really does not look very good at this point but we should be cautious.

My next thought. If in fact it turns out the he did this terrible thing I vote we let Ladyblaise determine the punishment. I may not always agree with blaise but on matters of this type I suspect she'd come up with an appropriate punishment.

On a side note I'm no expert but I've been with my lady for 18 year (still dunno what she was or still is thinking) and she's always needed time to by physically ready before any insertion of any type. Like I said I'm no expert.

Remember, Pelini walked into a bad situation. Cally and Uncle Tom Jellyfish created an atmosphere of nondiscipline where players like Lawrence Phillips and others were not dealt with in a manner that their crimes required. The players thought their **** didn't stink and they could pretty much do as they pleased because Cally and Uncle Tom Jellyfish would just slap thier wrists. I am not a Nebraska fan, but I do like Bo Pelini, and I think you will see a response to this matter that will send a message to his players that this type of conduct won't be tolerated.

Pelini meets with team about weekend troubles

Just got back from chatting with Bo Pelini.

Following some off-the-field incidents over the weekend, Pelini had a meeting with his team Monday night.

Among other things, former Husker offensive lineman Carl Nicks is banned from participating in Wednesday's Pro Day in front of NFL scouts at Memorial Stadium.

Pelini said he's banned from being around the program because he has set a bad example with past behavior. Nicks and former Husker receiver Maurice Purify were involved in a party over the weekend with some current Huskers that resulted in several tickets being handed out.

Pelini said Purify has about a 50-50 chance of participating Wednesday. He's looking further into that situation.

The coach said one player has even been dismissed from the team -- don't know who that is yet. Pelini said Andy Christensen's status of being indefinitely suspended hasn't changed.

About the weekend troubles of his team, Pelini issued a statement:

"Every young man involved in an incident over the weekend is being dealt with on an individual basis. A few players have been indefinitely suspended from the team, while others have been disciplined internally.

"I talked with the entire team (Monday) night and clearly explained to them that from this point forward we will have a zero tolerance policy regarding alcohol and social responsibility. Our players understand the intent of this rule and what we are trying to accomplish. Therefore, any violation will be handled individually as it pertains to the specific circumstance.

"Our players also understand that certain establishments are off limits, and that the policy also pertains to their behavior in other social settings. I made it clear to them that our policy will be strictly enforced.

"Coach Osborne, myself, and our staff are all in agreement that the culture of this program will be one centered on respect, ingretiy and discipline. We all agree that culture must extend well beyond the football field."

Nebraska athletic director Tom Osborne also offered a statement.

"Alcohol abuse and binge drinking continues to be the number one problem affecting college students today. Educating our student athletes regarding these issues is a priority for our athletic department. Last week we had a mandatory student-athlete meeting where alcohol abuse was the primary topic. We expect our student athletes to go beyond the education process and to be good role models acting appropriately at all times. We do not take these recent violations of alcohol abuse lightly."

Sounds like Bo isn't f***ing around. Word on the street is the player dismissed is Covey, who would be a favorite for starting LBer this season.

Sounds like Bo has disciplined more players in one week than Cally and Uncle Tom Jellyfish did in their whole careers. I think Bo is a good man.

you did? interesting.

the most intriguing part is your last statement. what did covey do?

edit: found out. back-to-back citations for MIP 2 nights in a row.

i am uninterested in personally meting out punishment in this case. to me, the most interesting dimension is the husker fans reactions.

from what i can see, the reactions are split between those who are repulsed by the idea that any young man could think that the alleged incident is merely a prank or a rite of passage to the point of actually sticking two fingers into the netherparts of a girl at a bar.

and then there are the predictible red clad loons, who are high on the following points:

* the only reason the bail was so high is that the girl is the daughter of a judge.
* the judge "is or should be" in trouble with the state bar for recusing herself (they did not stop to identify whether the recused judge and the bail setting judge were one and the same - they damned and defamed the woman and have not so much as admitted that they made a faux pas)
* being as there is no way to physically prove penetration, a almost jubilant smugness is easy to detect in posts of fans anticipating a serious reduction in the charge. this is disconcerting - the issue is not whether or not the alleged incident HAPPENED, but rather that it is POSSIBLE that their cog could dodge a bullet, and return.

through this lunacy, i find it unbelievable that the fans so high on just getting their player back are the ones who are prone to bringing up "rape scandal" at cu. it makes me wonder if any synapses connect in their greymass at all.

from an analytical point of view, it is facinating.

I can see where you are coming from with the two different classes blaise. I for one think this dip$hit should be kicked off of the team, which sounds like it has already happened, and he should be locked up for quite sometime. As some of you have said Sexual Assault in the 1st degree can involved more than just an attempted or completed rape. Obviously, he got more than just a "feel" for this girl. I'm surprised he isn't still picking his teeth up off of the bar floor!

The bail sounds about right in this situation as that type of charge in Iowa would be around $250,000 and then you have to tac on the assault on peace officer charges which ups the bond fairly quickly if the officer's were injured.

me too. baffling. it seems a logical response to the alleged incident. it is that facet, rather than what type of panties do or do not allow the alleged incident to happen (only metal panties would prevent the incident, and they are not so popular).

personally, i find that class one tends to be more grounded, and i get the sense that these posters are established, oftentimes family men.

the others come off as younger. certainly less wisened, as evidenced by the tendency to hold their heroes at a level in which the law and all decency can be thrown out the window. scary thought: these random idots have spread across america, if their monikers provide clues to their dwelling. they certainly are PR nightmares for nu.

i am really impressed with the first group. i would say that husker posters here tend to fall in that group. you are looney. you wear red. you have horrible taste in teams. but you do know right from wrong when something serious is on the table.

Sorry. This was an LJS blog, not my writing.

 well you could have warned us!

I love this gem from Worden Tom. If you read between the lines it says "If you grabbed the bitches by the hair instead of the ass everything would be fine". What a two faced prick!!!!

I loved the implication that it wasn't really the fault of the scumbag player who stuck his fingers up a girl's skirt, it was the demon rum. Just like when he explained Lawrence Phillips' behavior by saying that his girlfriend had "betrayed" him.
