What happened with Ralphie?

From Scout:

Weighing in at 750 pounds, V blazes the loop around Folsom at about 25 seconds, roughly 20 seconds faster than Ralphie IV used to. During her second half run, V burst out of her pen and lost all but one handler, who hung on for dear life until the others surrounded the Buffalo at around the 30 yard line. Handlers back in place, Ralphie V then burned ahead for 70 yards into her trailer.

Holy ****!

Hey Marching Buff - are you sure you want to be a handler?

Thanks Jerry.

It looked to me like one of the handlers got tromped on by V when he fell over... guess not though, I doubt he would have gotten up right away had that been the case.

i think that guy fell both times right when she came out of the gate...i think you are right, his head was dangerously close to being crushed by her hoof in the second half run....

After each run, the handlers were in the end zone, hands on knees, doubled over, trying to catch their breath. Ralphie V is a speed demon. She really moves.

I wish I could have seen it. It sounds like the old days when I was a child in the stands. I remember when Ralphie lost all of her handlers and went by the side of the trailer and out of the stadium. The electronic scoreboard read "Ralphie Come Back." Then the time when she headed right into the Ohio State cheerleading crowd, should have seen them scatter.

That in and of itself is a bit troubling though. If some visiting cheerleader got hit by a mascot in the 1970's, it'd probably show up in both schools' local newspapers and everyone would have a good laugh about it, assuming the girl didn't die from her injuries. Now though? If Ralphie seriously injured anyone, including her handlers, there'd be calls coming in from all over to end the Ralphie tradition outright. :sad1:

i noticed that d.scott was standing on the bench along the wall of folsom when ralphie ran today...i hope he enjoyed the new tradition that is starting this year...

ralphie does not appreciate being called a foxy moron. she is smart enough to ditch everyone who would tie her down.

:wink2:

and there was me thinking basic reading skills were a requirement for your job ... :wink2:

I just think the term is absolutely idiotic. That´s all.

perhaps.

it is unlikely that it will be the last absolutely idiotic phrase i use around here.

in a couple of years i will more properly call the d. scott slash ralphie combination a time honored tradition.

for now it is new. and a tradition it will be.

hence, new tradition.

so there ya go...

That was awesome. My kids really enjoyed the debut of V!! Need some sprinters with some serious to keep up with this one. Will be great watching her run in the coming years.

Here's an even better Youtube clip of Ralphie from yesterday

Ouch! One handler got trampled out of the gate. But one guy did hold on the whole time. That looked like a fun run.

Then, after they get control of her and get going back to the trailor she outruns everyone and there is only one guy holding on again at the end haha.
