What scares you heading into fall camp?

Two words: Punt Block

Three more words: Field Goal Kicking

Shotgun snaps were iffy.

The shotgun snaps looked better, but Cody really seemed to have some concentration issues and bobbled a few.

Hawk's game day coaching scares me..

Not a believer in the defense either..

Offense will be interesting if Scott turns out to be the real deal.

I have a cautious feeling about the upcoming season.

Come on you guys, this is a young team, mistakes are bound to be made. Im still very optmistic. If this team can run some damage this year, just wait till '09, poised to ****ing kill opponents.

Of course the "half empty" thread is going to be much longer than the "half full" one... Negative Nancy's.

Just going to summarize my concerns in one thread.

Half full: 1st team offensive line manhandled the defensive line
Half empty: Special teams! Special teams! Special teams!

All in all, the day was really nice, got my vitamin D levels recharged. Got to check out some co-eds and free hot dogs!

I think Hawk and Helfrich have done a great job. Considering the fact that we had so many freshmen and sophmores seeing significant playing time.

Not a believer in the defense either..

The defense is really young too. But i think we'll be fine.

Interesting huh. How so.

fixed it for ya. we know how you roll jimmy.

Love the sig Valdez! Monster Oline!

I loved the O-Line, Cody, and the receivers.

I also liked the LB's, and DT's.

CBs worried me, RBs worried me, and obviously special teams.

And that is my in-depth analysis of the game

Hey we had some touchbacks today, we never had those last year. Goodman made a 44 yarder at the end and made all his PAT's. The 62 yard attempt by Davis:huh: I dont think it would of been good from 20

I thought that after watching last years spring game, where we could not even have two offensive lines in front of the QB's (and really only had two QB's at that!) this year was a huge upgrade. The offense reems like the coaches have really been working hard on getting it implemented so they looked ahead of the D, but then, the O looked much further ahead than I have seen them in a spring game before.

There was another punter late in the game that really launched the ball; would guess that if that continues, he will be the guy this year.

From the DP today.

"This and that.

The crowd of 17,800 set a CU spring game record. . . . While insisting it is premature to say Hawkins has agreed in principle to a contract extension, CU athletic director Mike Bohn confirmed Saturday that they have engaged in contract discussions. "I'm optimistic that we'll have something pulled together and wrapped up before the start of the fiscal year (July 1)," Bohn said. Hawkins is beginning the third year of his initial five-year contract worth about $900,000 annually, plus incentives. . . . No injuries were reported Saturday. . . . Two punts were blocked and returned for touchdowns. But special teams coach Kent Riddle was not upset. "We had the third-team punting team in there to see if we could get some blocks," he said. "

I noticed the comment about the punt team that got blocked was the scout team in the camera. Just goes to show how difficult it is to take anything away from a spring game.

Field goals worry me much more than punts do. Besides, does Hawk kick punts anyways?

I like the sound of that. It's just too bad you suck at predicting things... :wink2:

There is one thing that got me during the spring game. Is Mo Lucas that good? or did Ryan Miller just have an off day. Miller was not staying with his blocks, and when he did the DE's were pushing him back collapsing the pocket. I know it's only spring ball, but i hope Ryan corrects those issues. He's supposed to be the anchor of the oline.

Mo Lucas did pretty well during the spring game. I hope he has a breakout sr year.

So is the glass now only 1/3 empty?

This was a young team two years ago and last year. This is no longer a young team, there's no excuse anymore for making 'young' mistakes.

Question: At what point does the "young team" excuse get thrown away?

i.e. can a coach who has been at a program for forty years (aka JoePa) still use the "young team" excuse?

If his players are largely freshmen and sophomores, you're damn right he can. The tenure of the coach has nothing to do with the tenure of the players. I'm pretty sure JoePa doesn't have any players who have been there 40 years.

That's different than the excuse of "he doesn't have his own players yet", the period for which has passed with Hawkins....

But it's still just an excuse.

Ok... Ok.... Ok.... Calm down everyone.

They've only had 15 real practices before the spring game.... That's only about 2 weeks of practice. We'll be fine! It's very hard to put an entire offense, defense, and special teams together, in 4 weeks on and off!

Let's take a deep breath...

All I got was a bunch of marijuana smoke.

by what standard we played 57 freshmen last year, so we'll be playing 50 ish sophomores this year, thats young to me.

Come on...there were not even 57 freshmen on the team last year and most of the true Frosh redshirted. Where do you come up with a number like that....

I hate it when people make "facts" up.
