2008 schedule

After the spring game, how do you see the buffs this year? I think we will be better than last year, but we do have a tough schedule. I would be shocked if this team doesn't go to a bowl, but I wouldn't be surprised if this team won 9 or 10 games, something we could have done last year, and now with the talent and more experience, it wouldn't surprise me. There are question marks on defense and special teams, but I think this offense is gonna be the best we have seen since 2001-2003.

CSU: W I don't see the lammies staying in this game with a new coach personally. I think the buffs will come out rolling.

E. Washington: W I liked Boulder Buff's comment, if we can't beat them, we won't be good. I agree.

West Virginia: Tossup How will the mountaneers do with new coach? They have a killer QB/RB duo. Extremely tough game, but folsom will be rockin on Thursday night and I see this like the FSU game last year and a chance for the buffs to win.

@ Florida St: Tossup. Noles aren't as good as they used to be, but it will be in Florida and it will be hot and humid. Last time buffs traveled to the southeast, we almost shocked Georgia. I think the buffs can take this, but will be tough.

Texas: L After W Vag and FSU, I think it will be hard to kerp it going against a great Texas team. Wont be as bad as last time we faced them, but I think this might be our longest shot of the year.

@ Kansas: W I'm leaning on a buff win. We should have beat these clowns the last two years. I'm not sold on KU, I think last year was a fluke, KU comes to earth, buffs win.

Kansas St: W KSu has owned us the last two years, it's time for Hawk to beat them, which he should. We are more talented this time at home.

@ Missouri: L I think Mizzou is here to stay unfortunaltey, they will repeat as Big 12 north champs and it will be hard to beat them in Columbia.

@ Texas A&M: Tossup. We have historically done well againt the Aggies and they have a new coach. I wouldn't be surprised if we go down there and win.

Iowa st: W, I can't believe we blew it to them last year and neither can the buffs. Buffs roll em.

Oklahoma St: W, Home game, pokes go down.

@ Nebraska: tossup. Don't know what to expect from skers this year. Although I feel good about buffs chances if Shawn Watson is calling plays.

So I see 6 for sure wins, 4 toss ups, and 2 losses. But who knows for sure, this stuff just makes time go by in the offseason.

The more i look at the schedule, the more i say WOW! This shouldn't be done to a team. But I like that we aren't K-state, Cornholes and KU. We'll play anybody anywhere.

I see 6 wins again, I think we'll beat some teams we shouldn't and lose to some teams we should handle

I have drunk the cool aid and think there ain't a game on the schedule that we can't win. So I'll categorize them as "blowout" "win" and "barn burner."

CSU: Blowout - sheep have had their day. Buffs will put them back in their place.

E. Washington: Blowout - Hawk will not let the team let down at they did against Mt. St.

West Virginia: Barn burner - Buffs got the home field. WVU speed will be checked at a mile high as the Mountaineer will be sucking wind by the middle of the 3rd quarter. We will come from behind to win in the 4th qtr.

@ Florida St: Barn burner - Semenholes have too many atheletes not to put up a heck of a fight. But most of these players will be playing in their first game. Buff will be jacked up and will smash FSU right in the chops.

Texas: Barn burner - Buffs will be pumped after two big wins and a top 25 ranking. DS breaks out for 250 all purpose yards.

@ Kansas: Win - I not sold either. If Mangino doesn't eat Cody, we win going away. Buffs enter the top 10

Kansas St: Win - They have had our number the last two years, but they are joke this year. If their spring game is any indication, they will have a pathetic offiense.

@ Missouri: Barn burner - Practicing against a no-huddle offense all year pays off for our D. Over/under for this game will be in the tripple digits. Hold on. And that booger-eating punk of a QB will be crying all game long. Buffs break into the top 5.

@ Texas A&M: Win. new coach and we play very will in Aggieville.

Iowa st: Blow-out - No gift from the officials this year. Buffs will kill the clowns

Oklahoma St: Win - last year I thought this team was on the rise, but Gundy has proved to be a loose cannon. I don't think they are there yet.

@ Nebraska: Barn Burner - Their best linebacker was a RB last year. even Penini can help this defense. Ganz is still good, and Lucky ain't bad. Fusker's will come into this game looking to secure a bowl game and to spoil the Buffs perfect record. The game will be close, and Fusker nation will latch on to the fact that the margin of victory was less than a touchdown to declare that Penini is the next coming of Christ and they are sure to win the next 3 MNCs.

CCG: Barn burner - OU has its eyes set on revenge for the loss in Boulder in '07. Buffs are looking to secure an invitation to the MNC game. Buffs take it to the sooners again. Big XII Champs.

MNC Game: Buffs lose. I got to keep it real right? Wouldn't want to get greedy. :smile2:

CAnt we just play some cream puffs in recruiting hotbeds? I mean besides baylor.

I'm with unleash hell on the 6 wins, 4 tossups, and 2 losses, HOWEVER, I believe we will split the 4 tossups thus giving us 2 more wins, plus a bowl win puts us at 9-4 with a Top 25 finish due to our strength of schedule and some great steam into 2009.

That would be a great finish and DH will bring home another great recruiting class as top recruits will want to jump on the BUFFALO train. Some might think I'm drunk on Black and Gold kool-aid shots, but these are very realistic expectations considering the current trends and momentum developing. N'est pas?

it is a very rough schedule and there is a 4 game stretch that is just plain sadistic.

it is so hard to predict how things will go, particularly this early. i always predict "undefeated" as my "official" Buff pick, but i'll go thru and label as "must win" or "should win" or "toss up" or "very challenging game."

csu: must win. we've brought in athletes. they haven't been able to do that for a good long time. new coach, few athletes... CU big.

ewu: must win. CU won't struggle here. if they do, it is going to be a long year.

wvu: very challenging game. yeah, it is at home, at night, on national tv. and, they are also super good with a lot more athletes than our Buffs.

@fsu (sorta): toss up. they still have more athletes. and it will be basically a home game for them, but big mo' says we are due against them. hence, it moves from very challenging to toss up.

ut: very challenging game. they are pissed about scott. they are better across the board athletically. they have bigger faster wideouts and a credible qb. this may be where the pass defense is brutally exposed. but, i like hawk on gameday as opposed to mack, so it ain't a lost cause. just a very uphill battle...

@ku: toss up. i think they are going to take a step back, but they still have certain elements likely to give CU fits. but, familiarity against the no-huddle should help. the biggest issue here is where it falls on the schedule. the Buffs are likely to be a bit dinged up after wvu, fsu, and ut, all in a row.

kjuco st: should win. it is at home. they aren't that good, but they have managed to play CU tough.

@mizzery: very challenging game. mizzery has a lot of mismatches against the Buffs athletically. this might be the toughest game on the slate if mizzery hasn't gone into the tank thanks to pinkel by this point.

@atm: toss up. new coach. questionable talent. CU has a good chance at road win here.

isu: must win. they suck and CU owes them big.

osu: should win. they are improving, but this is a game our Buffs have to win at home to show they are back in the mix.

@corn: should win. i think the fuskers are in for a long year. i downgraded it from must win because of the history of the series.

so, that is:

3 must wins.
3 should wins.
3 toss ups.
3 very challenging games.

if you assume, for a moment, 3-0 in the must wins, 2-1 in the should wins, 1-3 in the toss ups, and 0-3 in the very challenging games, you get 6-6. 2-1 in the toss ups seems possible, too, so that gets you 7-5.

we will see, of course.

... rooting for 14-0.

GO BUFFS!

@corn: should win. i think the fuskers are in for a long year. i downgraded it from must win because of the history of the series.

I know this is blasphemy, but I, for one, think that the huskers will be better than everyone is predicting. Last season (particularly towards the end of the year) they could really move the ball. Yeah, the defense was horrible, but they had pretty much given up. I wouldn't be surprised if the new coaching staff lights a fire under their asses.

I don't follow ne football much, but from what I remember, slash was getting decent recruiting classes, so there must be some talent there. Someone please tell me where I am going wrong here. I'll be glad to hear it.

they are going to be much improved, i agree. they'll feast on creampuffs and then struggle in the b12 north v. CU, mizzery, and ku. they have good talent. i think they are looking at a .500 year and i think CU, at least as of now, has just enough horses to get them.

I have said it before, but I really think one of the keys to a successful 2008 season getting at least a split out of WVU/FSU. Going into conference play at 3-1 would really set us up well.

if we lose a game in conference at home that isn't Texas (though, i don't think that's unwinnable), we are in trouble.

hard to know. 6-7 wins.

we'll steal one we shouldn't and lose one we shouldn't.

Here are my predictions, albeit guesses, on our probabilities of winning our games next year:

CSU: 98% win; it would be a shock if we didn't win big
E. Washington: 99% win; no Montana State this year
West Virginia: 30% win; home field helps, but we are young
@ Florida St: 40% win; this would be a big one for the program
Texas: 30% win; we'd have to play a great game to stay in it
@ Kansas: 50%; toss-up
Kansas St: 70% win; we're battle tested at this point
@ Missouri: 40% win; calling an upset for this game
@ Texas A&M: 50%; toss-up
Iowa St: 90% win; the Clones will be bad (I live in Iowa)
Oklahoma St: 50%; toss-up
@ Nebraska: 50%; in Lincoln, toss-up

So I see 4 for games we should win, 4 toss ups, and 4 games that we'd have to pull an upset. The scary thing is I can envision us going 10-2 or 4-8. I'm excited for the year... Go Buffs!!!

You guys have a brutal schedule and you should be proud of it. We desperately need to get away from out $hitty schedules. I have no idea how our team is going to be this next season so your guess is as good as mine.

csu: The extra wide sideline area at Invesco gives Ralphie more room to roam. She sheds all handlers. Four excersize bikes and one Cool Zone headed for the trash heap. Tranquilizer darts required.

ewu: Handlers equiped with electic cattle prods and helmets, and Ralhie V sheds 5 before crashing into cement doorway by horseshoe. J-Fly nearly ruptures his spleen in laughter.

wvu: ESPN cameraman gored. Highlights at the top of the hour.

@fsu (sorta): toss up. Despite protests from PETA, Ralphie V makes the trip to Jacksonville. Chaos ensues between buffalo and mounted Seminole. One animal mascot of the equine variety headed for glue factory

ut: Only sheds 4 handlers, but misses trailor, ending up in visitor's locker room. Mack isn't the only thing Brown, as Colt McCoy sh!ts his pants. Halftime run involves 4 handlers being dragged by their leads for 50 yards.

@ku: Mangino wears a fur coat on sidelines at Lawrence. Bucket of KFC gets murdered.

kjuco st: Spunky Ralphie V takes a second and third lap. Kjuco takes a defensive position at fifty yardline as stampeding buffalo circles ever closer. Willie's oversized mascot head resembles a broken piñata.

@atm: The sanctity of Kyle Field is preserved as Ralphie stays home.

isu: Handlers are under tremendous pressure to have a good run. Ralhie performs flawlessly, if not slow. Buffalo fails tranquilizer test, and the NCAA can't do anything about it.

osu: Fearing the fate of Willie, Pistol Pete hides in stands. Chip kicks him in the nuts. A drug free Ralphie is handled by Darrel Scott. He drags Ralphie around field.

@ corn: Bobblehead is safe for an other year.

CCG: Stoops successfully petitions for Ralphie to stay home, but unsuccessfully holds on to lead. Ralphie is headed to mNC.

Thanks guys.
I left out that part where Walrus and Sackman travel to Columbia for the Mizzwho game armed with buffalo urine piss bombs and Ralphie hockey pucks filled with marshmellos and nails. The shock and awe of CU's sorties wipe out the band and kills a cheerleader. Who said Ralphie V doesn't travel well?
