Reggie Bush is not the only USC player getting paid off...

What is sad is that nothing will really happen to the University!

im pretty bladder control does not have anything to do with intestinal control. he probably ****s himself instead. probably the worse of the two evils.

I was commenting on the getting old part. Look at his avatar! he was probably best friend with the Flintstones.

I know my jokes are lame.

I'll be shocked if USC receives more punishment for this than CU received for that discounted lunches mishap from a couple years ago. Actually, I'll be shocked if they don't receive less punishment for payers being payed in cash than we did for players eating cafeteria food.

Have I mentioned lately how much I hate the NCAA? :sad2:

and we self reported that infraction..

U$C better get slammed hard by the NCAA but we all know they will not. :sad2:

Pat Forde says USC should get the 'death penalty'.

USC, Tim Floyd have no excuse for turning a blind eye

In a just world, USC basketball would have something in common with SMU football in the near future.

The death penalty.

It's not going to happen, because NCAA bylaws don't work that way. And besides, they're not likely to ever again disband a program for a year after the smoking crater it left at SMU.

But USC deserves it. The school has so far escaped facing NCAA prosecution for compelling allegations that star tailback Reggie Bush and his family were lavishly compensated by an aspiring agent while playing for the Trojans. Now comes a devastating, thoroughly documented "Outside The Lines" report that goes into stunning detail about the money and gifts star guard O.J. Mayo allegedly received before and during his one season at USC.

All directly beneath USC's chronically blind eyes.

You can plead ignorance once -- and even that was almost impossible to believe, in the case of Bush. Plead it twice? Um, no. USC should be crushed by the NCAA, the Pacific-10 and its own administration.

Especially with a player everyone in Hoopsworld strongly suspected was no amateur before he set foot in Los Angeles. You had to search hard to find a soul who didn't think O.J. Mayo had been prostituted for years as his prep legend grew, starting in seventh grade. (Put it this way: When early Mayo confidant Sonny Vaccaro gets muscled out of the scene, somebody's bringing some serious juice to the table.)

So you take the Bush allegations, add a side of Mayo and ask the question: Has there ever been a more textbook definition of "lack of institutional control"?

I imagine every high profile basketball player expected to be gone by his sophomore year is receiving kick backs from agents. I don't even see it being a problem, the schools remain willfully ignorant and maintain plausible denial, while agents competing across the country game out to an equilibrium among schools and have a minimal effect on recruiting.

It might be horrible to the perceived integrity of college basketball, but when the NBA has no age restriction, there isn't anything you can do.

From Neill's article: "Our guess is that the gutless wonders in Indianapolis won't do anything about USC adding a little Mayo to the sandwich of blatant disregard for the NCAA's rules."

As much as it pains me to say it, I think this is probably what will happen. I can only hope though, that if enough columnists can piss off enough people that the NCAA will be forced to do SOMETHING. At this point, I would take light sanctions against U$C just for the fact that their "lack of institutional control" would finally have been recognized/admitted to by the NCAA. At the same time, I would be thrilled to see them get a consequence truly befitting their crimes. I won't be holding my breath though...

SC did good CYA job before signing mayo having both the Pac-10 and the NCAA vet his status, you can bet thier lawyers will hide behind this.

Myles Brand will sweep this under the rug like he does most every scandal one of the big boys has. Later he will drop the hammer on Slippery Rock for letting some recruit's disabled brother see the locker room before a game.

 that sounds rather in line with how things go down in the ncaa.
