Is it just me or do you find Jim Rome annoying?

Why didn't they let Jim Everret beat him up? I heard on the radio that he wasn't the only one that security had to restrain from ripping his punk face off?

A little bit of Rome goes a long way. When I lived in SD, I used to listen to him all the time. Now, I don't listen to him often, but I enjoy his "national" take on sports (vice the local schmucks). Remember, his top 3 goals are:
1) promote himself
2) entertain
3) promote himself

He gets some good guests and can be entertaining. But the long drawn out pauses can drive you nuts, and the way he hammers home the same point over and over and over, can get to me as well.

GOOD NIGHT NOW!:smile2:

Good point. It is not just you - I find both you and Jim Rome annoying...

When JR was local in SD, I listened to him, he was better back then. Now he's just annoying. He is also a sellout. I remember how he used to knock NASCAR, now that he's national, he slobbers on any drivers knob who comes by.

I do miss the drug test...

He makes some good points, and is funny sometimes. I think Colin Cowherd is better, similar style, but not quite as negative (even though still negative). Much funnier, and clever.

The Herd

OK, that's twice you've mentioned that moron's name on this board. Next time there will be neg rep. Cowherd is a fraking idot. Completely retarded. He doesn't know jack squat about sports, he's just a guy who likes to hear his own voice.

Consider yourself warned.

Is it me or does Jim Rome look alot like Steve Gutenberg in that clip?....I honestly dont like the show. The callers and emails are usually the most entertaining part of his show (and that is not saying much)

The only good show is the smack off. Just hearing people rip random of people, new orifices.

Our sports station here replaced the hour previously wasted on that ****fest with Dan Patrick's show. Not my favorite, but damn is it an improvement over that ****stick.

Dan Patrick is about a bazillion times better than cowherd. We can't get the Dan Patrick show in Denver anymore. Too bad. I actually like him. He's not only respected, but he's knowlegeable and articulate. Those are three qualities that completely escape cowherd. I just wish Rob (Ron) Dibble were still on the show. Those two were a great team.

I'll admit it, I often enjoy Rome's take on things. It was hilarious the way he ripped NBC's Olympic coverage in 2000, or how he made fun of all the Y2K over-hype.

And I like the pauses. :smile2:

I can take a little bit of Rome from time to time. But as soon as he starts taking calls, I'm OUT! I cannot stand those freaking Clones and their "takes." These freaks take, like, a week to write down their schpiel. Then some of them probably practice over and over. Then they call up Romey and blather on about random crap that know one cares about. A good portion of them are hoping to get "noticed" and get on the radio or, God forbid, TV. Like Oren from Denver. That guy is the most annoying "sports guy" I've ever heard.

Late. I'm OUT!

Rack him!

Does Oren from Denver actually have a radio show now? :wow:

i used to sort of like Rome in 99 or 00 for a while but he does about 2 shows a week but over the course of 5 days. I pretty much gave up sports radio altogether about 3 years ago and don't miss it at all. sometimes i'll listen to Al and Hastings and more during football season, but not too often. if there was more college talk, i'd listen more. i basically can't stand all the FOX stuff on the FAN....it's NFL 24/7/365 (i'm talking to you JT the "Brick") i much preferred the Sporting News Radio people and especially when it was Sportsfan Radio Network back in the KKFN early days where it sports talk and not fart jokes and goofy noises. with Bob Kemp, the guy on the weekends who did updates and commentary on college games (forget his name), even Arnie Spanier, Papa Joe Chevalier etc. hell, i even liked Scott Ferrell better than the stuff these days.

i thought Dan Patrick was on nighttime on the Fan these days?

Call ins make all radio terrible.

Rome can be funny however he seems to stretch every one minute rant to a whole segment. I guess he has to repeat himself so the clones can remember the point.

I like the Rome show for its entertainment value, not so much the sports aspect. I actually just listen to clips on stucknut.com most of the time. There is some seriously funny chit, usually the callers not Rome.

The format of the show is kind of annoying, like when he says he isnt gonna talk about something, but then by saying he isnt gonna talk about it, he does.

Freaking hilarious. I had only heard about the Everett interview until now. I've never seen Rome without the facial hair.

I have given up Rome for Adam Carolla's radio show; Rome can wear on you and his callers are worse.
