The "Slickster" has his work cut out for him this year - Tennessee on Monday night TV, and at BYU for his first two. He also goes to Oregon, Cal, Washington, and Arizona St. Both of his top quarterbacks were injured in the spring. If he can make it to a bowl this year, you gotta say the guy can coach. I never liked him myself, seemed like he came across as a real plastic man, but his record is gaudy 66 - 30. His last year at CU 1998 the sweater vest boy was 8 - 4. The weasel could recruit with the best - GB won the Big 12 with most of his recruits.

Great X and O's guy but NO control over his team. He would rather play his his music and be their friend. They don't need friends they need a coach with control

Let's hope the old weasel ( I mean dog) is still up to his old tricks. For our sake I hope this isnt a new and improved Slick Rick as he will make it tough to recruit against, as most of our talent comes from CA.

Is it me or does this line ring a bell with anyone?

I want to say I remember us and UW being quite injury prone over the years.

We'll see soon enough whether he's learned his lessons or not. If UCLA has constant offsides, false starts, and too many men on the field penalties, then it'll be same old same old. For his sake, I really hope he learned something from his time in the NFL about the importance of team discipline.

Alot depends on how CU and UCLA do this year. The Los Angeles area has always been a hotbed of recruiting for CU. Remember when we lost out on Maruice Drew - EB recruited him when he was running backs coach at UCLA. McCartney would recruit in some of the toughest neighborhoods in LA. He worked with a man who was like an unofficial mentor in these neighborhoods, and he would get Mac into a recruits home. They had a sign language worked out between them, and if Bill started taking things in the wrong direction his associate would flash him a signal to back off.
On the lighter side Neuheisel would recruit the better areas of southern California. Ted Johnson told a story on KOA about Rick and him sitting in the kitchen of his house. That night "Slick" got up to leave and he fell down when he walked into a screen door that he thought was an open doorway.
