Like it or not Huskers, you need Buffs rivalry

Classic. Thanks for linking that article. NU fans haven't changed a bit, not even after being an average football team for most of the last decade. Awesome.

BTW, can anyone translate this comment for me, cause I don't get it:

Sun stroke from the pitchers mound. How can we Nebraskans even fathom a rivalry with Tree Hugger U(CU)?! One world describes a true rivalry- RESPECT. CU don't have any for their own school let alone any others that visit. How many times have the student tried to burn the school down after a CSU game? I have relatives on Denver avid Bronco fans but, you bring up CU and they reach for the paper bags to hide under. The average Colorado resident is embarrassed of CU and their antics. Coach Dan tried the wrong way to start a rivalry by instilling hatred. So isn't getting close to time for Grandson to play for good ol' CU like his daddy did? The rest of the universe actually roots for CSU especially in Nebraska because Boulder Tears fill our rivers. Just like they did in '01 when Nebraska went to the Rose Bowl instead of CU. that should have been the big hint. College football don't want you. CU does not travel well. CU hasn't a clue what respect is. You can't even handle CSU!

:lol::lol:

mark knudson should never be allowed to touch a writing utensil or any form of a keyboard for the rest of his life

he should also keep away from baseballs as he was as bad and embarrassing a pitcher as he is a "writer"

his CU hate speech this time of year never disappoints, my csu friends get a kick out of it too, most logical people in foco know he is a raving lunatic

Didn't Mark Knutson used to be somebody important, like 20 years ago?

From the people i met in Stincoln, those who "accept" the rivalry seem to be pretty nice people overall while welcoming the rival and understanding that CU is a team that they CANNOT lose to.

The other side is those who laugh in my face, "ahahahaha.. Rival? No..." who seem to be the same people talking smack to me and overall more bothered by the Buffs. From my very accurate poll about Husker fans, 20% are really great people (very classy, very kind) the other 80% are delusional, obnoxious, stubborn, a-holes.

It's a rivalry plain and simple! I posted on one of the Husker message boards about this article and I stated one thing that constitues a rivalry to me is plain and utter hatred for your opponent. Just because you have respect for someone doesn't make them a rival and the OU vs. NU "rivalry" is a perfect example of this. I named three teams who are probably our rivals, KSUcks, CU, and Mizzou.

I absolutely hate KSU and want nothing more than to beat them 80 to 0 every single season! This board has allowed me to not hate CU, but to dislike them considering I've gotten to know a few of you here. I have had a new hatred emerge with Mizzou and want to slam Chase Daniels into the ground myself. Now having said that I obviously want us to beat you guys every season and I'm sure you feel the same way about us. That constitutes a rivalry in my book............

Mark ****ing KNUndson....total waste of space. I've had it out with that douche bag before as many of you may remember. Same dude that thought BVP was a better QB than Cutler.

He wrote that and is still employed by this newspaper??? :wow:

Ahh - the comments are funny. I never tired of reading about the harassment NU fans are forced to deal with on their journey's to Boulder. They get more ridiculous with time.

EDIT - I saw this in one of the comments

I've seen 80 year old women bathed in beer and her husband slapped and pushed around when he tried to stop the harassment. A friend had his vehicle set on fire.

He worked (and might still) for Mile High Sports Magazine. He wrote an article that was so amateur, I emailed he and his editor a retort and called him out on how childish his take was, he then wrote me back and called me all sorts of names (while not cc'ing his boss and editor). I forwarded his BS to his editor and then got a half ass apology from KNUdson. The fact that this boob has a job in the media is mindbogling

And another

I used to attend the NU CU game every year whether in Bolder or Lincoln when I witnessed a CU fan throw a cup of urine on a Husker fan leaving the game I decided I'd spent my last dollar in Boulder

I hear about this incidents by so many NU fans, it must be an epidemic...... yet I have never seen any of this behavior in person....strange

I've ranted about this before, but if CU fans were really as bad as the urban legends state, wouldn't the fusker fans stop coming to boulder?

this is a good one.

FACT: Very simply said, Colorado fans are nothing but D-bags. I myself went to Boulder, once. Back in 1999, I was at a restaraunt after the game, and was wearing a Nebraska hat and shirt. A couple of CU fans walked by our table, and one put his cigarette out in my food. I vowed I would never return to Boulder.
I will never consider CU our rival. You don't deserve the kind of respect you can't return. Go screw!

My favorite is when you ask them what the police thought of these horrible instances of human behavior. Crickets.

this is a good one.

OMFG, that's hilarious.

:rofl2:

I always love the "my 120 year old grandmother got doused with urine, our car was set on fire, and I was charged $500 for a room at the local Holiday Inn just because I wore my fusker gear".

The stories get better and better every year. We should start a scrapbook of all the urban legends that come out of fuskerville.

Found this on another board and thought it made sense:

Every year at CSU-CU time the CO media starts talking rivalry and CU fan treats CSU like we treat CU. "You aren't our rival. Media can't create a rival! You have to accomplish something first!"

The average Nebraska fan has no more respect for CU than CU has for CSU. Right or wrong that's just kinda how it is.

Not an apples to apples comparison in any way really.

I love the urban legends. As sacky said, they really do get better every year.

This is the incredible thing to me. I couldn't care less if NU respects CU. I honestly don't care. Respect us or don't, we'll still kick your ass on T+1.

Well I for one make sure to kick the cane out from under all old Nebraskans. I then proceed to urinate all over them. No one says anything because we at CU live in total anarchy.

Conference rival vs BCS team vs non-BCS team. Not the same at all.

:lol::rofl2: BWAAAAHHHHHAHAHHAHAHAHHAHAHA!!!!

Boulder hasn't allowed smoking indoors for over 10 years! So he must have been eating outside, AT THE END OF NOVEMBER!

What a douche!

As a Buff fan and a Fusker hater I must admit a lot of what is said about us is true. We are arrogant, rude and obnoxious towards the Fuskers and I honestly am not sure why. Maybe because they kicked our ass so badly so many times. Maybe because they won't acknowledge us as a rival. Their fans are condescending and think they're entitled to 10 win seasons every year, but so do a lot of other programs and we don't "HATE" them. I've said for years that the comparisons between CU-NU and CU-CSU are striking. CSU HATES us and we don't care. We HATE NU and they don't care. Personally, I can't stand the Fuskers and never will, but I'd like to think we could show good sportsmanship at the games. I remember sitting in Folsom in the 90's next to an older couple from Nebraska and the woman would not even cheer for her team (they beat us 41-21, I believe) because she was afraid for her safety. And in a number of cases it is probably true. I thought it was really sad that she couldn't enjoy the game for those reasons. So I say hate them all you want, but show respect and sportsmanship to each other during the game. Two wrongs don't make a right-but three lefts do. Just my two cents.

Go Buffs!

That's because I had dumped a gallon of 3-year old asparagus piss on her head right after I set her car on fire.

My language on this board is tame compared to what I hurl at 80 year-old ****er fans.
