Prince extended

Anybody else find this a little shocking? He was listed as being on the hot seat in many of the preseason mags, they collapsed late last season, and picked to finish near the bottom of the North this year.

hawk got an extension??

Hasn't been signed yet.

I can see arguments against both Hawkins and Prince receiving extensions, but the Prince extension is really baffling. He is currently the lowest paid coach in the league and KSU could have sent him packing without much trouble if he tanked this year. Now, their investment is a little steeper.

Damn BB. Beat me to it.

He knows he's on the hotseat, that's why he signed 19 JUCO's. Some of which I understand are already academically ineligible. When you resort to this you usually don't get very good team chemistry, and then the wheels begin to start falling off.

I think KSU is trying to go from JUCO recruiting to HS recruiting. KSU is in a heap of trouble if that's the case - IMHO.

I'm happy with their decision because it means KSU will have problems for the next 4 or 5 years! :smile2:

not so fast my friend.

you asshats extended and fired a coach in the span of three months:smile:

Don't say, "you asshats" when only one stupid a$$hole actually extended his contract. That would be Steve Pedersen.....................you never extend someone's contract one game into the season! For that matter you don't extend it a month before the season begins either! :wow:

Hey nowainaminit, Sybil! Ya'll have to take the good with the bad. The bug red nibblet nation most certainly associates itself with any good fortune stemming from the decissions by one person.

In the case of the Callahan extension, at the time there was solid support of the move from the big red horde. Of course, if you have enough support to be able to throw that kind of money around, God bless ya!

Depending on what kind of termination clause Prince now has, I don't think KSU can make those kinds of errors.

I think your probably right there stampy. KSU doesn't have that kind of money to bail themselves out of that mess.

yeah, up until USC blew a hole so wide in the blackshirts that all the Peterbilts in Nebraska could go through....it was all "breakout year" and "Sam Keller for Heisman". after that one play it was all downhill. turns out, sorry huskerpedia, that Zac Taylor was the best player of that era and you even throw him under the bus.

and the return to sainthood of Frankie Solich, screw the WCO, Bo (the real Nebraska guy) turns water to wine, straw to gold etc.

KSU is afraid to have to hire again. Prince can give them 6 wins and low bowl with the OOC 3-4 wins they play....even after Snydey, the "success" thing is still new to them, coupled with Huggy Bear and Beasley being one year EMAW....its all kind of dicey in terms of "the long term" at KSU.

If he can reach these modest expectations, then they have him around for awhile. Throw in a few losing seasons and they'd keep him anyway, hoping he can do what snydley whiplash did. If (really big if) he produces alot more wins and say a bcs bowl, kjsu has a nice buyout if other schools wanna hire Prince away from Oz.

Well there's your problem! You went to huskerpedia for your information. No matter what some meatheads think Taylor was a good QB and had a hell of a lot of heart. USC was the game where it all fell apart though.......
