It seems there is a lot of confidence in Buff nation going into the csu game, myself included. I mean the rammies have a new QB, a new unproven coach, an unproven staff, and the rams are coming off some bad times when they fired their best coach ever.
Even if Ram fans and players say all is well in Fort Collins, you would have to think it will take time for the players to gain trust in Fairchilds system. I would imagine a lot of those players were very bitter when Lubbick was fired and they are not all totally "in" the new scheme. Just like a lot of the buffs weren't in it when Hawkins first got here.
CU meanwhile is coming off a much improved season by going bowling and beating CSU, Oklahoma and Nebraska. CU has had two good recruiting classes and the talent gap is starting to get a lot wider between the buffs and rams. CU returns a lot of experience on offense this year while adding more talent.
CU is also favored by 12 points in this game. The last 5 years the lines have been: 2,4,7, 2, 2. So Vegas likes the buffs chances a lot better than the past few years.
However, does all this confidence worry any of you? Anybody nervous of csu? After all they will be ready. I have no doubt that if the buffs are ready, csu doesn't match up well against us. If we struggle in this game, I think we're in for a long year and will probably start to wonder about Hawkins as the coach he is touted to be. Thoughts?
