Colorado 38 Colorado State 17 - Pros and Cons

the CU o line picking up the blitz and giving CHawk time to throw on a big 3rd (i think) down conversion. the drive ended in a td.!!!

- Sacks by the D-Line. I think Sipili will be credited with 1/2 a sack - all others are from the front 4 (including the one by Jones; he started in the DE position).

- Running backs looked good. Running game looked good in the 2nd half, when it really counted.

- Cody to Devenney for 3rd down conversions.

- Kicking game was good, sans the KO return for a TD.

- 2nd half adjustments by the coaching staff. Remember, the Buffs didn't have much of anything to look at since csewe has a new staff.

- Pass coverage was a little above average. The td throw by the lammies looked like a blown coverage.

- NO SACKS GIVEN UP!!!!!!!!!!

Pro - Big holes in running game, and Scott is a tough runner.
- J Fly in the return game
- MTM played well. I'll bet he starts from here on out.

Con - The sacks came when Farris panicked, not as a direct result of pressure off the edge.

+CU stops 10 of 12 3d down plays
+What, 4 or 5 sacks?
+Hawkins looked good

-penalties
-snap miscues

A couple, maybe. There was also good coverage. Herrod came off the edge for a sack and so did Jones - both before Farris got antsy.

I shouldn't be disappointed but I was hoping the Buffs would really stomp em.

The 55 - 10 with about 600 yards of offense kind of stomping.

It was a good victory and I like what I see from J-fly!

Pro - We won
Pro - CSU went 2-12 on third downs
Pro - J-Fly
Con - I expected a little more from our offense
Con - PENALTIES!

Pro - we are clearly bigger and stronger and out muscleing teams down the stretch.

I love coach Pitman!!!!!!

Cons - Pressure on the QB. We had 5 (or however many) sacks, but that was deceiving. There wasn't consistent pressure on Farris. And obviously the penalties, especially the bad timing of some of them where they killed drives. Sumler only looked so-so.

Pros - Williams, JFly, McKnight, Brad Jones, Smart, Walters. Not letting them back in the game.

I was really impressed with Cody--no dumb throws, kept his cool during botched plays/snaps, and nothing he could do about the interception. plus, i love his arm strength--not fantastic by any means, but strong enough not to be a liability.

Loved the O Line. There was no pressure from CSU off the edge and they gradually wore down the lambs in the running game. If we clean things up we'll be ready for WVU!!

Con - secondary got torched on 1 TD and were beat a few times but the Lammies couldn't make the throw. This will be our main weakness this year.

He seemed crazy accurate with a little zip. He saw the field better, this game, than any last year, I think.

There was a third down conversion on the last scoring drive where, under pressure, he waited for his receiver (Devenny, I think) to get past the first down marker.

I liked what I saw from Cody.

Those actually didn't bother me at all. I was surprised.

:dito:

Malph, I really wish you'd stop making me agree with you. :smile2: I really didn't notice the patches during the game, and seeing them up close in the post game I actually kind of like them

And when they become the diamond cross hatching patter that Oregon has next year...?

Pros-third down conversions a plus on both sides of the ball.
Running backs looked strong.
JFly on KO returns.
Coaching made good adjustments.

Cons: penalties. bad snaps. No WR big plays of more than 20 yards.

Con - Just saw the post game interview with the lammie coach and he seems like a descent strait up guy. Hating the lammies is easier when they have a trash mouth dousche bag HC.
